It's hot... I know. It's almost July, it's supposed to be hot. At this point, I'm not miserable. We have air conditioning in our rooms and a small unit running downstairs. I know it's going to get hotter, too. Whatever.
So I went to the Bingo thing and won $30.00. Hanging out with the work friends was fun. There was a lot of laughter and conversation. Came home and spent my earnings on dinner. Ha! That Man was doing stuff and things and I didn't feel like cooking at all, so I ordered food. So there's that.
The day job... Well... I'm not going to get into much of it. Except to say I have spoken my piece and relayed That Man's opinion of how the last few months have affected me. I don't know if it will help and if it doesn't, then I guess my decision is made. We shall see!
The writing hasn't been so good as of late. See above. I'm hoping to change that this weekend. That Man has to work and my plan is to find somewhat of a balance between all of the things I need to do around the house and writing. That Brother, That Neice, and That Boyfriend are coming in about two weeks and we must prepare.
Little "Bootsie" kitty went home with her new momma. She's adjusting wonderfully and these guys left here are also adjusting well. We had a lot of crying last night and this morning, but they seem fine now. Freddie is laying beside me all snuggled in, which is what he does. He's so lovey and snuggly, though my leg has an epic set of cat claw marks. He was loving on me while I was sitting at the table, lost his footing, and scratched the hell out of me on his way down. Not his fault, but...Ouch.
Besides the kitty going to her new home, the animals have adjusted well around here. Max is still a bit of an a-hole at times, but he's getting much better. Spenser doesn't give a crap and doesn't want any other cat around her, though she's still loving with us. She just waits until the kittens have tuckered themselves out. She's a pretty old gal. We don't know how much time she has left, so we're okay with her quirks. Elsa tolerates the kitties, though Freddie absolutely loves her. Last night Fred was licking her ears and "petting" her while That Man was petting her. It was pretty hysterical to watch. We'll see what happens there, but props to my puppy for being so patient with the baby 1/15th of her size. The biggest change is how much cat food we go through. And how much litter. But K4 helps out with that, so it's not a huge deal. Oh and the hair - Fred sheds as much as Elsa it seems, so the vacuum is in constant use.
Tomorrow is Friday. That's a hugely good thing. I had kind of thought about taking a mental health day, but I have too many customers relying on me to finish up their stuff tomorrow. I'll make it through and then enjoy the weekend. I have off next Thursday and Friday, so I need to look forward to that.
That's all I have...

Partial Weekend Wrap Up...
Only partial because it's early and there are still things to be done today...
Friday was a rough one at the day job. Okay. So every day is a rough day there. I still don't know what to do.
The dryer is still broken. The new belt doesn't fit properly. That Man will work on it some more when he gets home. Currently, the dry rack we use in the winter is sitting on the patio with clothes drying. It's slow, but undies are needed.
Yesterday was a mostly relaxing day. Slept in, which was awesome. Paid the bills, hit the grocery store, took a short nap with my kitty. That Man worked his second job, so I was pretty much on my own all day. Decided to make some shrimp tempura for dinner. Major suckage. Okay. I guess it was alright, but it definitely didn't turn out like it was supposed to. No part of dinner did. Made fried rice and the rice got to mushy. The veggies didn't do well with the tempura either. Drat. I put a lot of time and effort into it. The only thing that did turn out awesome was a sauce I made - sake, hot sauce, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, cilantro, and something else I don't remember right now. That was downright tasty and made a difference in how poorly the tempura came out. That Man didn't mind, but I was disappointed.
Today I am going with the work friends to a Bingo fundraiser. I have never played bingo a day in my life, but they conned me into going. It will be fun just to hang out with them outside of work - we always have a good time when we do that. I did tell them I will be petting the old ladies troll dolls and generally being a nuisance, but they still wanted me to go, so... we'll see.
When I get home, I will hit the word count. Going to start on it in a few. I have about an hour until I have to leave. I need to make progress after the past few weeks of mainly edits. This book is the second one to the one coming out in July and I've been way too slow on it.

So Much Thursday....
I was off from the day job today! I needed this day so much! Mainly, I took off because today is our annual street fair and I just couldn't even think about dealing with the traffic and bullcrap with leaving and coming home. Plus. I had stuff to do....
1. Estate stuff. Lawyer phone calls and emails. Phone calls were scheduled and productive. Many questions were answered. We're getting close. Just waiting for one thing and some other things. But we're at the place where we need to begin making decisions about some stuff. Talked to my brother. Talked to my cousin. Texted the siblings. We're getting there.
2. Made appointments.
3. Slept in. That was first and foremost. It was beautiful, though I didn't sleep too long.
4. No laundry. Currently the belt is broken on my dryer (ha ha - no surprise in that one) and we're waiting for the replacement to arrive. (tomorrow)
5. Hung out with K4. She did the running for the things we forgot to get last night.
6. Made baked beans. From scratch. I soaked the beans overnight. Made two batches - a vegan batch and a bacon loaded batch. They are more "cuban" than regular, but they are tasty. I cooked them all day and I'm pretty sure they turned out okay. They are a mix of all of the dried beans I had in my pantry - garbanzo, pinto, lentils, northern, red, and idk what else...
7. Street fair today. I have not and likely will not go down. Though one of my best friends from school is down there. I want to go see her, but I am not motivated enough to put on real pants and venture from the safety of my home. The dog has been a mess all day - barking at random noises and being defensive about nothing. K4 and J and K are down there. They will be here soon for food and stuff, so...
8. Final line edits are done and changes sent back. Twenty days until release! Whoot!
9. And now the house is full of kid friends and kid friends I haven't seen since they were in high school. Nice.
Signing off now...

Sorry For The Silence...
Wow! Two + weeks! I'm not really sure how that happened, except the last two weeks have been insane!
Let's see...
Got my edits done and returned. Now I have my final galleys to proof. Just got them, but I have to hustle since my book is already up for preorder on Amazon! Whoot! This is what I'll be doing the next few days. I've already cancelled my Wednesday commitment, and I am off from the day job on Thursday, so you know what I will be doing.
We went to the Jeep festival and had a blast! Ended up signing up for stuff and got super muddy! Awesome! We did their "playground", which was fun driving stuff . We both went through a bunch of times and on my last time through I hammered it through the mud. We were covered and it was a blast. Ran into a little issue with overheating since the radiator was packed, but got that taken care of and continued to have a blast. Took a trail ride through a beautiful forest. That was amazing except for the guy about four Jeeps up from us who got stuck constantly. The weekend was so much fun and we had a great time.
The day job - well... It's probably for the best that I don't go into it right now.
Anyway.
The kittens are so crazy and silly. They are getting big. We're still fostering one, but she should be picked up this weekend. Fred is huge (huge as in 3# to the other two at 2#) and is quickly becoming the boss of the cats. He's such a sweetheart though - always wants to be picked up and gives headbutt kisses. They are into everything and literally get stuck everywhere - in the pantry, the closets - I have to be super careful when I close the dishwasher, the fridge, and the dryer.
And below... finally... Is my new cover! Search it on Amazon for preorder! It comes out July 10th!

Feel Good Friday on Saturday...
I took the night off last night. No computer screen. No cell phone. No television. We sat on the patio and talked. I needed that. This week was really bad at the day job. The intensity of the suck increased as the week went and by yesterday, I was fried in a way I didn't think possible. No. I still don't know what I'm going to do. The coming week might bring some insights and push me to make some decisions though.
Anyway... Here's the Feel Good list:
1. Taking a chill last night. I know my edits are due, but there was no way I could have effectively tackled them last night. The old brain wasn't capable of anymore screen time and cohesive thought wasn't possible.
2. K4 made an awesome dinner of grilled chicken and corn on the cob. That Man helped with the grilling and I watched. I did the dishes though, so that's something.
3. Helping K4 make lemonade after dishes were done. Lemonade making has always been her thing and she wanted to make a special batch to take with her tonight to her thing. I helped squeeze lemons, and we put a few oranges, limes, and then muddled some berries. It was good last night. I can't imagine how much better it will be tonight.
4. Sleeping in a little this morning. Not enough, especially since I stayed up way later than normal last night, but it was good not to have to wake up to the alarm.
5. Writing meeting today. First we had a breakfast board meeting, which was productive. The general meeting was good. It's always awesome to see my writing tribe. I left early to get home and work on edits. And before you go "hmm", I have been working on them. I have a few things left and a straight up read through before I'm done. I will be starting the read through in a few minutes.
6. Going to see my granddaughters baton recital this evening. That Man can't go because he's stuck working two hours away and that's sad. But I'm excited to see her and see how much she's improved with her baton skills. She really loves it.
7. K1 turned 30 yesterday. He struggled with it a lot and then got the flu and spent his birthday puking. Also, the gifts my daughter-in-law purchased for him went missing. He had a rough day. So did his momma. It's so hard to believe that I birthed this child 30 years ago. The nostalgia is real!
8. Next weekend's plans. That Man are heading out on another Jeep adventure. This time to a festival that looks amazing. We are going as observers this year so we'll know what to sign up for next year. The hotel is reserved. Our pets and house will be well taken care of. And it will be a much needed weekend away.
9. Elsa's dog bite looks good. It's scabbed over and healing nicely. No antibiotics and no adverse side effects, which is awesome.
10. It's an absolutely gorgeous day out there. I'm considering dropping the top on the Jeep, but there's a significant enough chance of a storm that I won't. It's too hard for me to put the top back up by myself and the last thing I need is to be on the highway in a downpour - because that's exactly what will happen.
That is all. Go out and enjoy the sun before it starts raining again!

Stormy Wednesday...
Actually...it's been storming since yesterday. We've had two days of tornado watches, heavy rain, winds, and craziness. So far, we've been good, but other areas nearby have not.
The day job is insane. I'm back to being behind. Everything is on fire and what's not on fire, is soaking wet. I still don't know what I'm going to do.
The kittens are crazy! They are so cute and playful, but pretty much into everything. A water cup is a direct invitation for mayhem. So is a box. They are running up and down the stairs. This time last week, they were kind of fearful. Freddie has a new nickname. Tank. He is twice is big as the others and is asserting himself with Max. It's pretty funny to watch.
Elsa is doing okay post bite. It looks pretty good and she's acting normally. We're still keeping a close eye on it.
I'm working through my edits. Down to the hard stuff now. I know what I'm doing with some of it. The other stuff is a constant thinking process. It's not terribly hard stuff - just stuff that requires thought.
I'm exhausted though. My hips are killing me from sleeping on the hard camper mattress last weekend. At least I think that's why. I was in bed by 9pm last night and slept until 6 this morning. I think I'm not far from bed currently. But I feel pretty good that I made a major dent in edits and got some other stuff done, too, so I guess I'm doing okay despite it all.
So that's all for now...

Back From the Wilds....
Sorry for the radio silence... Last week was crazy busy with the Day Job and getting ready for camp!
Wednesday we went up to camp and weed wacked and got rid of wasp nests and came home and crashed. It was just That Man and I and despite the work, it was a good time.
Thursday was crazy trying to get everything ready to go. I seriously thought about calling off work. I went in anyway and did my job. Did a crapton of laundry when I got home and organized some stuff. That Man had a migraine and went to be at a ridiculously early time. Talked to the adopted sister for a while and then it stormed like crazy! We weren't sure we'd be able to camp at that point...
Friday dawned bright and sunny... Not so worried about camp. Pretty much ready to go. Did the day job thing. Got myself all caught up - well, for the most part. But when I left on Friday I was at inbox zero and was caught up enough to feel good about it!
We had no plans to go up Friday night. We have kittens and I needed to pay bills and do other stuff. That Man had done the shopping, so that was good. We were in bed early and up early Saturday.
Cut the grass. Watered the plants. Packed up and went to The Wilds.
It was fantastic. Good friends. Good camp fires.
The picnic was good. A little stressful with my sister and brother-in-law in charge and trying to make everything perfect. We helped get stuff ready to go and stressed with them on how it went. Didn't get to help as much as we wanted because we'd kept Mr. B Saturday night and he "needed" to get into the creek and he needed to fish. (that boy is a natural fisherman. He caught like 7 fish Saurday night and they were big!) We had a blast with him! But the whole day really went off without a hitch. We had a momentary hold up due to impending rain and then it was really good.
Except.... Elsa got bit by her own sister... Her sister is not well socialized and was not handling the stress of the picnic well. She got Elsa on her side. It's ugly and gross looking, but Elsa is doing okay. She's acting normal and eating and everything, but she's got a big tooth hole in her side. Ugh! It's just one of those things. We're not angry at Gretchen's owner or at Gretchen, because she's a good dog. It was seriously situational. There was a lot going on when it happened. We're watching it and her and will take appropriate measures if necessary. They were getting along the night before, so no one saw this coming... But... :(
The baby cousins were together which was super, super cute. Baby A is freaking the adorable-est. Baby B was so freaking happy to see her. He screamed loudly! It was so very cut and awesome. We also got to see our other adopted daughter and her son. Her little boy is so freaking cute and so smart! The big kids all grew up together and they are still close, which is so awesome!
We got home this afternoon. I took at nap. Hit my edits. Did some laundry and now we are dressing Floofy's wounds and going to bed. Tomorrow starts the work week. Ugh.

And It's Tuesday Already...
Yeah, I know. It's not Sunday... But...
We had an amazing weekend! Got to the hotel early Friday. Not quite check in time so we took off in search of a beach. Found a rocky, horseshoe crab infested beach with the crabs doing the nasty - like orgy crabs (they make weird noises - freaky). It was bay side, but still awesome to see the open water. We then went to another bay beach, which was nice, but no way to even get to the water without going through private property.
Went back to the hotel and got our room. Went up and it hadn't been cleaned yet. Hauled our stuff back to the Jeep and went across the parking lot for some food. Hung out in the sun on the deck for a few hours until we got too hot. Back to the hotel and into our room. Finally. Took a nap and then got up and went to the venue to help set up.
The organizer had posted that anyone in the area could stop and help do stuff Friday night. We put up cones and helped with various things. We were just about ready to leave when the guy from my work who was joining us called to say he was ten minutes away. So we waited. While we waited, a bunch of chaos erupted and suddenly we were going to the track. That Man asked if we could go along and they were like "hell yeah", so we went... On the race track. At Dover.
Called my work buddy and told him what was going on as we followed the truck in front of us to the gate to get onto the track. That Man and I were pretty much stunned. And then we were on the track. Going pretty damned fast. It was amazing! Work buddy joined the fun on our second lap. OMG! It was an absolute blast! We were going almost 100mph and hanging those walls tight! We had a pace truck, and it was awesome!
What a rush! And so worth the fifty-five thousand miles we walked putting out cones for the event!
Left the track still on a major high! Back to the hotel, waited for work buddy and wife to get checked in and then went to the pub for dinner. There was a bar fight, some people puking, and a super giant bouncer. We got out of there before things got too crazy. Back to the hotel and to bed.
Up really early to get ready for the event. Met up with a Jeep group in the grocery store parking lot behind the hotel. Talked to a bunch of people while we waited for the work guy. He was running late, so we went for good coffee (hotel coffee was abysmal). Finally hit the road and got to the event just in time to get the first time slot for driving on the track for the day.
Since That Man had done it the night before, I was in the driver's seat for Saturday. I was confident and ready. And then we got out there! It was terrifying! And awesome! It felt like I was going to tip as I tried to hug the lower level of the track. We just weren't going fast enough for me to feel confident. At one point I told That Man that I was going to pee my pants! Another ten miles an hour and I would have been golden! But it was amazing and I would totally do it again!
The rest of the day was a blast - food trucks, ceremonies, bands, vendor tents. A beautiful sunny day. We took off back to the hotel and work buddy took off to the beach. Decided against going out or going back to the pub (Saturday night - no thanks. Friday night was bad enough. Oh and Saturday morning there were shopping carts tipped over all across the pub parking lot. Oy!) Walked to the grocery store for food for dinner. Hung out in the hotel room with bad tv and our grub. We were exhausted (we must have walked 55 thousand miles)(and we were sunburned). Feel asleep at a ridiculously early time.
Sunday... We woke to realize it had rained at some point. We left the top down overnight. It wasn't bad. Moved the Jeep to the sun. Talked to another Jeep guy who stayed at the same hotel. He offered us towels and helped us get situated. Nice folks and we'll probably see them next year. Checked out and stopped for real coffee before hitting the road to see my aunt.
Had a very nice visit with her. Actually just got a text from my cousin that said how much his mom enjoyed our visit. I haven't seen her since my mom's funeral. But Mom and I were there not long before that in an effort to try to get the farm stuff situated. We had a really great time.
Left and got stuck in beach traffic on the Bay bridge. We were sunburnt. We're more sunburnt now. We were sunscreened, but that blazing sun.. .lol.
Got home about twenty minutes before a major thunderstorm. My sis and E came to pick up their new babies. It's weird to be two kittens down. They are in good hands, but it's weird to go from five to three. They didn't stay long so they could get their new babies settled in. Ordered subs for dinner. Went to bed super early.
Monday - back to the day job. Awful day.
Today - More day job madness. Things are super rough. Like so rough that I don't even know what I'm doing anymore. I love my job and I love what I do, but I don't know how much longer I can continue at the pace I've been working at since January. I'm frazzled and exhausted and feeling super unsupported. I have a lot of thinking to do...
And that's where I'm at.
I've been hand writing. In fact, today is the first time I've been on my computer since Thursday. And I can honestly say I didn't have one freak attack about not having my computer with me this weekend. I think it's because I hyped myself all up about it, but that's besides the point.
Tomorrow is Wednesday. We're supposed to camp in The Wilds this weekend. I hope we can - just waiting on the "too wet" report. We'll have Mr. B with us one night if we do. That will be fun. So far, everything looks good. We're debating on trying to put the camper up. We'll see...
That is all!

Feel Good Friday on Thursday!
You probably won't hear from me again until Sunday!
I'm not taking my computer this weekend. I know! It's like heresy! I feel the same way, but... We're leaving pretty early tomorrow and there will be much time away from the easily-broken-into Jeep before we check into our hotel. I don't care if someone steals my undies, but I do care of my computer goes away, or if it gets wet!
It will be okay. (I tell myself that over and over and it does stress me out.) I will do my words by hand. The critique is done, so I don't have to stress about that. Bills are paid. Everything is printed. And we'll be back Sunday, so...
Today was super freaking stressful at the day job. I swear everything was on fire and then some. My head still hurts from clenching my jaw. It was that bad and then some. I kid you not. I did leave early, but not without a bunch of work guilt and regret that I didn't get as much done as I'd hoped. And it's taken me until about now to release a lot of that stress, which is unusual for me.
Did the bank thing. Easy, but it takes a while. They need special stamps and everything is all locked up. Then the other stamp, which they also keep locked up. The lady was super sweet though and we talked for a while. Everything is ready to go into the mail and the estate folder is updated with receipts and copies of everything. A relief, but as has been the history, waiting for another shoe to drop. Waiting for three things now...
Grocery store and then home to start prepping for our weekend. Laundry is (still) going, only because the sweatshirt I want came out with stains and we can't have that. I swear it didn't have any when I first washed it! Our bag is mostly packed. The Jeep is ready and just waiting for the clothing bag. We're heading out light, so the only things we already have in there are tools, oil, etc.
And that's all I have! I'm so looking forward to this weekend! From the one-on-one time with That Man, to the hotel, to the meeting up with friends, to the actual experience! I will let you know how it goes!

It's My Thursday!
And tomorrow is a short day for me!
I know it's not your Thursday! Well, at least if you aren't off work on Friday! But it is mine!
I'm leaving early tomorrow to head back to the bank to take care of stupid estate stuff. I sent the one place everything and apparently it wasn't good enough. I have to start over. Ugh! But I believe it's the last one, though stuff and issues are popping up everytime I turn around. Oh hey, fill this out. Oh hey, your mom owns this because your dad is dead and we just can't fathom why she didn't take care of it. Suck it, jerks. Why didn't you call me to hear the story instead of sending me a rude letter?
Anyway. I'll be leaving work a few hours early to take care of that crap. And then, I am off on Friday!
We're heading out early Friday morning to head south for a Jeep event. It's a pretty cool thing and we get to drive on the racetrack! It's an event that supports fallen police officers. A guy from my work and his wife are going down, too. Our hotel is booked. The Jeep has been checked over by our mechanic, the house, kittens, cats, and dog are securely about to be sat on, but I still have so much to do!
I did do my words and pages on the critique I'm working on, so that's something.
In kitten news, they are at the 6 week mark. They are so cute and so obnoxious. Their claws are like razors. Both That Man and I are tore up. They are getting so big and so curious. We're going to be sad when the ones going away actually go!
I need to make a list now!

A Little Behind...
I know it's been almost a week since I've posted!
Friday was Friday. It was good to get out of the day job! We didn't do anything Friday night. Well... sat on the backporch for a little. Saturday was a bit of sleeping in, then errands. It was a beautiful day. We got some Jeep work done, yard work, made awesome food, and did laundry.
Sunday... This year has been a rough Mother's Day. I think a lot of it has to do with this being the nearly exact time we lost Mom. The memories are so fresh-feeling this year. I stayed off social media nearly all day because I couldn't bear to see people posting pictures of their day with their mom.
I stayed in my jammies all day and pretty much hunkered down on the couch with the kittens. That Man made me breakfast. I took a nap. Talked to my kids. That Man made dinner and cleaned up. It poured all day long, which matched my mood.
Today was back to the grind. Though K3 and A stopped to bring me some flowers at work today. That was nice. A wasn't feeling well yesterday, so they didn't come over like they'd originally planned.
K4 put a turkey breast into the oven for me earlier, and even though it was in there for five hours, it wasn't cooked the whole way through. We ended up with chinese food for dinner.
And... I did my writing and critiquing and now I'm seriously thinking about going up to crawl into my nice warm bed. It's cold!
And now you see you missed nothing! ha!

Thursday... Oy Vey!
Today is Friday Eve!
That's my new thing. I was talking to a client this morning and she said that - totally changed my day! I shared it with the office and it did make a difference in our attitudes. It's been a super, super rough week.
The new hire lasted 2 1/2 days. The IT guy was let go, too. Not sure what happened there, but think it had to do with sleeping on the job. I had high hopes for the new guy. And I'm going to miss the IT guy. He was weirdly different but a good part of our team. So... morale is kind of low at the moment.
The kittens are trying to climb across my computer. They are crazy busy, though some are sleeping. Well. Not anymore. Now everyone is up and yelling.
I did my words. I'm mentoring a young writer, so I checked out her latest stuff. I also did some critiquing. Not much of any, but enough to help me feel like I'm at least working at a balance.
My eyes are weary and my head is achey. I've been in front of a computer screen for nearly fourteen hours now. I am done for the night.
The weekend is coming. Our plans include Jeep work, yard work, and good food. Sunday is Mother's Day and I don't want to get into that yet...

Monday...Woah...
My three day weekend went super fast!
I finished my whole list on Friday! Got answers! Made phone calls. Took a nap. Made an awesome dinner. It was a beautiful thing!
Saturday - I was supposed to go to a mini writing retreat, but between K3's car breaking down, unexpected errands, and generally feeling like crap, I didn't get there. It sucks, but it was what it was. I did get to sleep for a while and when I woke, I felt way better. We had K5 Saturday night, which was a blast. She loved the kittens and she was a huge help with them. The kid is super smart and so interested in space. We had a blast with her.
Sunday - Mr. B came to visit too. We had an awesome breakfast with them. Then off to Lowe's to get flower pots for them to make mother's day presents. Two crazy kids in Lowe's. In the rain. We had a blast. Back home to paint flower pots, then lunch, then planting flowers, playing in the mud, then off to take the kiddos home. It was a good, fun day. We were exhausted.
Monday's always suck. But the new hire started today. I helped interview him and I liked him, so the hope is that he'll work out. He's got the right attitude and I think he's a good fit, so we'll see...
The kittens are weaned from the bottle and doing a wet/dry food mix. They've been running around downstairs all night. They are so stinking cute. Two or so weeks until they go to their new homes. And in the meantime, they will eat us out of house and home. LOL.
I'm keeping up with my writing group challenge, so that's awesome all by its self...
That's all I've got...

Whoot! Three Day Weekend Commencing!
It's my Friday! It's my Friday! Three day weekend! Whoot!
It was a Hell day at the Day Job. Everything was on fire. Like from 7:45 when I clocked in and it didn't get any better all day. Everyone wanted everything immediately and the phone would not stop ringing. I was trying to get myself in a good place to be off, but that did not happen. My reps know who to go to if they need something asap. It is what it is.
As I left the day job, I got a message that a good friend from my writing group lost her husband last night. That threw me big time. He had a brain tumor and they had given him a timeframe, but it just came as a shock. She's a young mom with two kids under six and my heart is breaking for her. That totally rocked my world. I've been struggling with it all night.
So...
Tomorrow is a day off. I have a pretty big list of things to do. I will be back and forth at the house, but I am hoping to get everything done before lunch. We will see. I kind of doubt that will happen though, given the size of my list. And I keep adding things to it, so...
I don't think I will be sleeping in at all. The babies will need to be fed in the morning and since I'm the one who doesn't have to run out of the door, I will be in charge. We're doing the weaning slow. Their formula is mixed with chicken baby food and they eat like monsters. Tomorrow night we will let them try out eating out of a dish again and then they will get much-needed baths. They are stinky. For reals. And they will be super messy after checking out real food in the manner we plan to introduce it. Essentially, by this time next week, they should be mostly weaned from the bottle. We introduced water tonight. So far no one is going for it, but it's a matter of time. We found a "chick feeder" water fountain because we know how much of a mess they will make when they discover it! They'll be five weeks tomorrow, or so we think. Two weeks since we rescued them. Three or so weeks until they're ready to go to their new homes. Weird.
And that is all... I'm sure you'll hear from me tomorrow! Probably while I'm on hold during one of the ten-thousand calls I have to make tomorrow.

Mid-Week Kittens...
Yeah, I know these kitten posts are getting old... We're just a few weeks away from them being ready to go to their new homes - like maybe 3 or 4.
They are starting to wean from the bottle and are constantly on the move. I feel like the Pied Piper because they follow and follow and follow. But they're so cute. Max is becoming very interested in them. Just tonight he sniffed them and hung out while they tried out "big little kitty" food. They've changed a lot in just the few days since Sunday.
In other news...
Monday night was Writer's Chat with me as the host. There were seven of us at a chain restaurant and we had a blast. It was good to connect and talk shop. The food was okay. The service was good. Even though I was the host, I bailed a bit early to get home and get to the edits.
Tuesday - I finished the edits at almost 11pm and sent them back to my editor. Yay!
Today - Writing time. Laundry. You know...
The day job is the same. Brain Draining. There is a new hire coming Monday and a coworker and I sat in on the interview and liked him, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that he can keep the pace with us. He has a fantastic attitude, so there's that. I was caught up for about two days, but now I'm not.
Tomorrow is my Friday though. I have no choice but to take Friday off to take care of Estate stuff and some household administration duties. Yeah. Some of the estate stuff came through without a hitch and others... well... I'm banging my head against the wall because I don't know what they want or what I did wrong. So I have to figure that out with phone calls and get it moving to completion. And go to the bank. I also need to get my drivers license picture taken. Meh. So it will be a weird discombobulated day of running in nine different directions. I'll get the license taken care of first thing, and then figure out the rest.
That's all I have!

End of the Weekend...
And Kittens!
Saturday was a blast! Road-tripping with my peeps! We laughed hysterically, talked about some deep stuff, laughed more, ate, and had an awesome time in the car!
The event was beautiful. The winery was adorable. I didn't taste any, though the merlot milkshake looked pretty amazing. I wanted to try it, but never got around to it. I met other authors who publish at my same publisher, so that was awesome. Talked to people. Didn't read because it was too freaking cold. No one did. It was a lot of fun and I'll be back there next year! It's already confirmed.
The trip back was equal to the trip there. We stopped at an amazing place for dinner. We were starving! Got home around 9pm and hung out with That Man, did some edits. K4 was at her cousin's house. That Man had kitten duty all day. He didn't mind. He also did Jeep maintenance, which was needed.
Oh! So the babies went to the vet Saturday morning. My Fred is the biggest at 13 ounces. No surprise there. The smallest is Bootsie/Socks at 10 ounces. That was unexpected. We thought either Spurt or Regi would be the smallest. The vet gave them a clean bill of health and said they look great. They are doing amazing. They are all using the litter box now. Awesome! They are eating fantastic, playing, and showing their personalities. Fred is a snuggle bug. Regi is a ninja. Goblin is the leader. Bootsie is an instigator, and Spurt is the most playful.
Things are changing fast. And so much has changed just in the week since we've had them. They are awake equal to their sleep time. They play. They are noticing their environment and interacting with it. Spurt keeps seeking out Max. Max is not ready to deal with any of them yet. But he hangs out to see what's going on. Elsa is on "mom" duty. She hangs out near them, looks at us with expectation if she thinks we're not responding to their cries fast enough and is super gentle when one of them is near her - but she's not particularly fond of that.
Tomorrow is back to the grind. Oy. Totally not looking forward to the work day and I hate that. I have a writing chat thing I'm in charge of tomorrow night. Once a month we have dinner together and discuss our stuff and things. Different people "host" and tomorrow is me. I'm looking forward to it. Though I really need to do the final read through of my book before I send it back to my editor. I thought I was done with it and then I read her notes again and I am so not done... Also, I need to finish the newsletter for my writing chapter and I'm so very late with it! Yikes!
Today is the anniversary of That Mom's passing. That Man and That Sister went to the grave-site today. It's rough. He's okay. I'm okay. That sister is okay. So is That Brother, though none of us have actually been able to talk to him today at this point. But the memories of what we were doing this time last year are huge.
Coming up... Another long week at the day job. Doing my final read through and getting my edits back to my editor. Hopefully getting my final cover to share. Prepping for our Jeep event in May. Raising kittens...
That is all!

Feel Good Friday & Kittens...
It's Friday...
There is no sleeping in for me tomorrow. I need to be up, showered, and ready to go by 7:15 or so. I am meeting my peeps at 7:30 for our journey into the wilds of New Jersey. I'm excited. And I'm nervous. I have to read and I have no idea what I'm going to read.
So let's hit the list:
1. Kittens getting fatter and fluffier. They are doing well. They are going to see the vet in the morning. Some are pooping too much. Some are not pooping at all. I think they're fine, but they are so little that there is no risk taking at all.
2. Getting the edits done. I'm so very close to being able to send the document back to my editor, but I want to check one more time.
3. Cover Art! It's gorgeous! Just waiting for the final so I can share!
4. Getting caught up at the day job! It's an insanely awesome feeling. I haven't been caught up since January.
5. Going to NJ tomorrow! I'm not ready, but I am ready. But I am super excited!
6. K5 last night! We went to the buffet Chinese place - her choice. She talked our ears off the whole time while she ate sushi and fried shrimp. We left there and went to the super store to try to find her a hoodie like the one she lost when the slime exploded in her backpack. No luck, so she got shorts, sneakers, and random stuff. We had a blast! She is so super cool. So smart and full of amazing ideas!
7. Chill night tonight! I was super stressed when I got home. I'd hit the grocery store for stuff, but ended up forgetting major stuff - like dog food and toilet paper - (they weren't on my list!) I paid the bills, did the laundry, and still have not eaten dinner. Though I am going to once I'm done here. We got subs at work at they came late, so I wasn't hungry at all until now.
That's all I have right now...

Kitten Post #3
The babies are doing well.
They are eating and growing. Not pooping much yet, but that's to be expected with the nutritional state they were in when we got them, them getting used to formula, and their bodies using every bit of nutrition. Some of them do, and some of them are interested in the litter box already, which is good.
We're kind of worried about little "Spurt". He doesn't eat as much as the rest and he struggles when he does eat. But he's adorable and active, so the hope is that he's okay. Most of them will latch onto the bottle, but a few do struggle. Max struggled as well, so that's not an indication of anything.
I will call the vet tomorrow since K4 has not had any luck getting through to them. She wants to take them in to be checked out and hopefully pooped. Our vet is awesome in that she doesn't charge for that with rescues. And she's reassuring.
Yesterday I helped K4 before we both had to go to work, and then helped again when I got home. K3 and A came over last night and they played with them for a while which helped tire them out. This morning, it was That Man and I on duty since K4 had to be at work super early. Well, a lot me, since I didn't wake That Man when K4 woke me and told me they were awake and by the time I got in there, they were all over the place.
We're just waiting for the final feeding so we can go to bed... Ha!
My first round edits for my July release came. I got through all of the easy ones tonight - mostly em dashes and ellipses (my habits) - I have about 10 harder comments to ponder and work on. And then I'll send it back to my editor for another round.
I also got my first look at my cover art. It's gorgeous, but needs a few tweaks. I will share as soon as it's been finalized, but the cover artist definitely captured my vision for it!
The day job has calmed for me a bit. At least for today. I'm pretty much caught up, but I'm the only one. I have some rushes to take care of tomorrow and then I'll start helping everyone else dig out. That's the way it goes. I'm still working the overtime, though tomorrow I will likely go in close to normal time. The kittens need their morning routine, K4 works before me - so I will help her before I shower, and I have to stop at the store, so...
Thursday night we have a date with our granddaughter. A quick dinner out since she has PSSA's at school and needs to be in bed on time. But it will still be fun. She's dying to get here to see the babies and stay overnight, so we'll make that happen soon, too.
On Saturday, I will be in New Jersey for a book signing at a winery. It was a last minute invitation that I gladly accepted. I'm excited. I will be reading, which kind of freaks me out, but I know I can do it. I will also be riding down with friends, so that will be a blast.
And I hear babies moving, so it's time to make the formula...

Easter and Kittens...
Today was also a good day.
I went to the religious institution with That Man this morning - like way early, too... Also with That Sister and That Sister's Husband. It was good. I saw people I haven't seen in ages. I haven't been to an Easter service since the Easter before my momma died and she went with me. It was the first Easter after my dad died and it was rough for all of us. Mom was a trooper though... I did spend part of my morning thinking about both of my momma's - his and mine. And missing both of them. Both Momma's loved Easter so much. I don't care what your religious beliefs are, when your momma loves Easter, you also love Easter. And I do. And I cried this morning because of both of my mommas. I feel okay about the whole thing after though, so there's that.
After that, we stopped for kitten supplies and headed to my sisters.
The day was good. I finally got to meet my great niece. We had stayed away because it was so bitter cold right after she was born and then we were all sick constantly. There's no way I wanted to make my first great niece sick. She is so stinking cute though! I love the fact that the cousins all look so much alike.
We had so much awesome food! The little kids had an easter egg hunt. There were only two of them, but they still had fun. It was an absolutely beautiful day. The clouds were amazing.
And the kittens... They all have homes to go to once they are weaned and ready. My sister is taking my little black and white buddy. That was unexpected, but awesome. We are also keeping two now. My little orange Fred and his little buddy Regi. Yeah... it happened that fast.We still have a few weeks of bottle feeding though
We're still working out our schedule for the week,...
I did write, so that's also a huge bonus.
That's all...

Feel Good Friday - On Saturday...
I started a post last night... I couldn't finish it because I was called to help care for our new foster kittens.
Yeah. You heard that right.
We are now the foster parents to a litter of five kittens.
They are so stinking cute. I can't even tell you how cute! There is an orange one, and he is mine. His name is yet to be determined. But he will be staying. I will post pictures as soon as I have good ones.
K4 is doing most of the work. Bless her. She loves it. I see her fostering kittens for a long time. She knows what she's doing and she's good at it. Currently, she's at my sisters with all five kittens. Giving us a break from what's about to be a long three or so weeks.
The little guys are about 3 weeks or so old. They are tinier than they should be. Their mom was severely malnourished before she ran off. Trust me, we waited as long as we could hoping she would come back, but she didn't. The babies went for almost too long without food. This was a process of checking and checking again and checking more to see if momma would come back. It would have been for the best if she did, but that didn't happen.
They are eating and sleeping and doing the bathroom thing though. All of them appear healthy. They all certainly have voices... lol
Max, the previous rescue, is not sure what in the heck is going on around here. He's avoiding the situation as best he can. We're hopeful that he will step up and be a good influence on the kittens. We'll see. Spenser is disengaged per usual. Elsa is being a kitten mommy. She has to be beside their basket at all times. When they cry, she's making sure we notice. She is so funny.
Anyway.
Today was a good day.
I took care of estate stuff this morning. Had to stop and get big envelopes and then to the bank and then ran home to grab numbers and paperwork that I didn't realize I needed. Then to the post office. Thank goodness. This huge steaming pile of crap is finally out of my hands. I'm hoping I did all of the things right... I guess we'll see...
Then to the grocery store. What a crap show. So busy. And couldn't get everything I needed. Oy.
Stopped by my friends to drop off some things.
Back home to make food and clean. And clean I did. Well. Kind of. Sort of. The entire house is vacuumed. The laundry is still in process. The dishes are all done. And there is a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake chilling in my fridge.
K4 jetted to my sisters. That Man and I went to dinner like we were supposed to last night. It was a good place. And then we hit the mega mart for Easter stuff. Candy for the plastic eggs. Turkey for the sandwiches. And watching people shopping in not only their pajamas, but in their boxer shorts as well... So freaking weird.
I did the writing. I also did the writing last night in between kitten feeding and snuggling.
Last night and today have pretty much washed the work week drama out of the way. That's always a good thing.
Happy Easter!
