Yeah. It's Monday II....

So it's the last day of February! And it's the first time in a very long time that I didn't blog every day of the month! Not that you care, but I do! ha!
Heading into March and I still have much hope for 2011. We started off a little rough, but things (knock on a lot of wood) seem to be looking up around here. The 'burban is in good shape - it's been inspected, oil changed, transmission maintenanced - and I don't have to think about a car payment. Whoot!
I've taken care of a lot of things that were looming. There's a lot coming up to look forward to, and I have hope in places I didn't before.
The zombie book is coming along, albeit slowly. The writing weekend I'd hoped for never happened, but it was very good mother-daughter time and you can't beat that with a stick, so...And, of course, tonight was retrieving newly inspected vehicles and an extended eye doctor appointment for K4 (complete with super cute reading glasses that better get here soon!). And it's Monday, so that usually always sucks, but whatever....
So, I will hold onto my tenuous hope and head into March with good vibes and extra determination! (Except where the stink bugs are concerned, because we all know what the warmer weather will bring. *shudder*)

Yeah. It's Monday!

... ...and it's early!
Where the heck is my coffee?!?!

Dear Supernatural People,

Nicely done!
I wasn't sure.
I wasn't sure I was going to like this episode, though I did laugh out loud at the previews. Alternate reality -- well, you kind of did that with the trickster and the game show/television show episode (which I loved, btw), so I wasn't sure what this was going to be. But, as it turns out, I loved it. I loved the awkwardness, especially with Jared's wife and the show, and the bad acting during attempts to film the episode, (which turns out to be fantastic acting.)
Misha was brilliant with his timely Tweets. Ha! And his sweater! And his crying like a baby before the demon used him like AT&T.
I'm intrigued by the "bigger picture", but I don't feel left out that we don't know exactly what that "bigger picture" is yet. I liked that Sam's take on the new world was that they weren't brothers, despite the fact that he had an awesome house and an awesome wife. Plus, he and Dean didn't even talk in this world! How sad is that?
I'm settled in for the long haul. I've been, but it's more solidified now. I'm perfectly positioned to wait and see what's going to happen next, because while my trust has always been with the writers and producers, I was afraid for this season, and I am no longer.
So, Thank You, Supernatural People, for continuing to bring me the show that I love and making me laugh, smile, and cringed for these characters!

Feel Good Friday

It's good to see Friday again!
It was a long day, a long week, But some good stuff happened this week...
1. Having the transmission on the 'burban fixed! And it only costing a fraction of what we expected. Now we have to get the inspection done and do some routine maintenance, but knowing we won't have to start car shopping is a wonderful feeling. Besides, I love my 'burban and want to keep it until it falls apart.
2. Last minute dinner invitations with the 'rents. It was a nice evening, though we couldn't stay very long.
3. Getting to see K5! She's crawling and pulling herself up and was a complete and utter mess of tears when we got there, but she came around. By the time we left, she was being a complete goofball. She's so precious!
4. Hanging with K4.
5. Knowing I'm going to get some writing time in this weekend.
6. Tomorrow's plans.
7. The countdown to the Retreat!
8. Kicking back with a little Captain.
9. Sleeping in tomorrow.
10. New Supernatural tonight.
...and a few more things you probably wouldn't care about, not that you care about this list anyway. Ha!

Answer!

I'm late. I know I'm late!

Which of the following are true:

1. I found a metric crap ton of stink bugs in the linen closet. Yes, I screamed like a girl. Yes, I sucked them up in the vacuum and then changed the bag - tossed it outside and considered lighting it on fire. It'd only been about a week since I opened the linen closet. No, I don't want to talk about the hundreds of disgusting creeps. Nah. But entirely possible.

2. Sunday night, as we were all sitting in the living room watching a movie, we heard the cupboard doors opening and closing. The cat was on my lap. The dog was on her bed. Freaky. True....

3. The cat caught a mouse Sunday morning. He didn't kill it, just played with it until B intervened. Nah.

4. Last night the cat spent ninety percent of our sleeping hours meowing loudly and being a pain in the butt. He didn't need food, or water, and had plenty of comfy spaces to sleep. I swear he woke us at least six or seven times. True! We didn't sleep much and were very irritated!

5. We lost our snow shovels in the snow. Okay, we didn't. I knew exactly where they were, but no one else did. It took B quite a while to find them, which made for some interesting tracks in my snow covered yard. Also true. And kind of funny!

Okay. I know it was a lame one.

Dear...

Dear Neighbors,
Thank you for stopping the annoying horn blowing. You can stop being jerks now, though. Living in a neighborhood doesn't mean you have to be pals with your neighbors, but you should have some consideration for others. And that doesn't mean yelling at them every time you see them out, or glaring at them when they're minding their own business. I don't think you'll ever get that, though.

Dear Weather,
Please just one more huge snowstorm. Please? I know people will hate me for that, but I feel cheated by the amount of snow we had this year. I want one major blowout that forces us to stay home and watch LotR and drink Mimosas all day long. I want to make brownies, shovel (yeah, I'm nuts), cook fantastic food, write, and nap. Please?

Dear Dog,
Please stop falling down the stairs in the middle of the night. You make me worried and sad. We're not being mean when we block your way at night and make you stay safe on the first floor. And being gone all day doesn't mean we don't love you. Please stop shunning us when we come home. We're happy to see you. I know it's different, but it'll be okay.

Dear House,
Clean yourself. Please.

Dear Stink Bugs,
Go away. Please.

Okay. That's enough nonsense for now. I need to write.

Dear Supernatural People,

Creepy mannequins! Yay! Scary, but way cool.
There was so much to love about this episode - creepy mannequins (I think I already said that), the ghost storyline (I've missed those). Sam and Dean's relationship - I like how they're not hiding things, but not bawling about what happened either. Sam sending Dean home to take care of Lisa and Ben. That broke my heart. All of it. Lisa's right. Dean's right. *sigh* Poor Ben. I have to wonder what he'll grow up to become because of Dean's influence on his life.
I loved how Sam took care of the problem (pretty much). How he was...himself, but with an edge I really liked.
It's my show again and I couldn't be happier!
Next week looks hysterical!
Thank you, Supernatural People!

Feel Good Friday

Another week in the can...
Let's see what was good about it...
1. Making time to catch up on a television show the K's and I like.
2. Not cooking.
3. New Supernatural tonight.
4. The beautiful weather today and yesterday.
5. Having a working dryer again.
Yeah, so that's it. It hasn't been a very good week around here. But it's over so now we look onward and upward.

Total Invasion...

I said I was scared of the warmer temps and what might happen with the stink bugs. I'd like to amend that to terrified or maybe red alert.
Holy cow! One super nice day and I come home to disgusting critters every where I look.
I pulled out the vacuum and sucked about twelve out of K4's room (don't tell her, she thinks it was only three). A bunch in the hall, and it my room. Put the vacuum away and find another one, then another one (this one actually on the toilet). Turn on the living room lights and find at least five dead ones near the front door...and oh, I'm not going to count them all, but there are way too many (including the one that just flew in somewhere near my head).
I have to stop thinking about it or I will never get to sleep tonight. I'm already freaking out over every little itch and rub of clothing against my skin.
But what's it going to be like after it's been warm like this for days? Are we going to have to move? Or use explosives?
I do not like it.

Wednesday Wrap Up

I'm catching up with myself a little.
Laundry is being done as I type. The kitchen sparkles like it only does when B or I do dishes (my turn). The paper stack has grown, but that damned mail won't stop coming. Neither will the school papers.
I wrote - probably my best word count this year, which is kinda sad, considering, but I'm not complaining. Progress is progress and words on the page are words on the page. You can't edit a blank page. Right?
The warmer temps have brought the stink bugs out of hiding once again. I have to tell you how terrified I am for spring. Just tonight I've been divebombed by one, there's one buzzing the living room lights, I've flushed two in the bathroom, and there's one trapped under my soda can beside me.
There were a lot of auto accidents out there today. I passed two on my way home. My sister passed one. My son's friends were in a pretty bad one (everyone is okay - just banged up a little and their car is totalled). Sirens seemed to go off constantly. I'm not sure if the nicer weather did something to people's ability to pay attention or if the roads were slick from the melting ice and snow.
Mid way through the week. I'm having a hard time remembering that. I'm hoping this weekend is helpful for me getting caught the rest of the way up. There are things I need to take care of that I haven't even mentioned, or really thought of yet, but one thing's certain - I've got to give some things up. I can't do everything, do it right, and stay sane. And, yeah, it was a hard decision thanks to my Superwoman syndrome.
And that is all for now...

Behind...

So...no Tall Tale Tuesday, because it's late and I got nothing. Well, I might have something, but my brain isn't coherent enough to pull it together.
I also didn't post about Supernatural. And that makes me sad. The deep and philosophical post is also still in the works, though I have on idea when.
I hate breaking a blog streak and missing days.
And when I say I'm far behind, I mean it. I haven't been blog visiting for a while. I suck at keeping up with my own blog. I can't tell you the last time I Tweeted, or checked in on Facebook. I also haven't done more laundry than absolutely necessary and that includes putting away the massive pile of clothes in my bedroom (and we're not going to talk about that travesty - the room I sleep. Oy!) My floors need scrubbed. The bathroom needs a major cleaning. My 'burban could double as a dumpster. The fridge is bare, and so is the pantry. The pile of papers on my dining room table is almost high enough to block out the sun.
But...
I am writing, though thanks to the migraine I've had for a week, it's not as much as it should be. But progress is progress. And most of the taxes are pretty much done (let's not talk about the college tax stuff, or the college financials I still have to do). And I will most likely get to see K5 at the end of this week. (She's crawling! And pulling herself up!)
And that's about it for this...Tuesday? Is it Tuesday?

Random...

I don't ever want to see a spaghetti again.
Yesterday was our Scout troops annual spaghetti dinner. It's a long couple of days, with prep Friday night, and then the actual dinner on Saturday. Massive spaghetti overload aside, it's actually a lot of fun (unless an ambulance has to be called. Or you feel like the icky stuff stuck on the bottom of a shoe, but that's beside the point). It's a huge hit in the community and it's nice to meet and greet neighbors and people who look forward to this event all year. And of course, there is always so much left over that we end up coming home with spaghetti leftovers - usually enough for two meals. Joy. Last night taking at least one bag of already cooked spaghetti was a requirement, and there are still at least 12 bags in the fridge.
Anyway.
Head over to my friend Natalie's blog. Her fantastically brilliant book, Fight or Flight, is available for pre-order at Amazon. And when I say fantastically brilliant, I mean it. She also has a pretty funny stink bug story.
And...
I'm just going to take a minute to complain about taxes. Figuring out this college stuff is giving me a migraine on top of my migraine. And I also seem to be missing information I thought I had. Sigh. I want them finished. Yesterday. But I'm at a standstill for the moment. Argh.
And...
I'm pretty far behind on almost everything and it looks like that might continue for a little longer. So bear with me while I try to get my stuff together again.

Feel Good Friday

I'm a little behind this week. It's definitely been a long one...
1. Making it to Friday...It's an accomplishment, trust me.
2. Supernatural tonight.
3. Finally having my comfy pants on and relaxing on the couch.
4. Sleeping in tomorrow.
5. Putting some words on the page this weekend. I will. I swear it.
6. Getting taxes done this weekend. I'd better!
7. Having a working dryer again! Whoot!
8. Kid sleepovers.
9. Scout functions tomorrow. Fun ones, but I'm too tired to be excited about it right now.
Okay. That's all I've got at the moment.

Answers!

1. My dining room table is piled high with unfolded laundry. There is also folded laundry in my living room. True. Not very exciting, is it?
2. There are currently three containers with stink bugs inside around my house. One is in K2's room. One is on the end table beside the couch, and one is on the kitchen table. Also true. I don't know why...It just is...
3. We have discovered that the dog likes to eat stink bugs. It's good for the invasion, but not so good for doggie kisses. No, and I'm torn by wishing it was true. No. I don't ever want it to be true.
4. I broke my temporary crown over the weekend. It doesn't hurt, but it's sharp. True.
5. B has decided that it's time to get a kitten. Ha ha ha. No.
6. K3's flu turned into an ear infection. True.
7. Both K3 and I have been waking up at 3:33 am lately. I think about zombies when I wake up. I'm afraid to ask him what he thinks about. Also true.
8. We had a total invasion of stink bugs Sunday night. They were flying all over the house. We must have caught and/or kissed close to a hundred of the creepy-assed bastards - some were flushed, some were jarred, and others were sucked into the void in the vacuum. Partially true. It seemed like an invasion, but there were really only fifteen or so. Mostly in K4's room.
That is all for now...

Tall Tale Tuesday

(The deep philosophical post is still coming, promise! But I'm a little under the weather right now and can't focus enough to be deep and thought provoking.)
So...
True or False.
1. My dining room table is piled high with unfolded laundry. There is also folded laundry in my living room.
2. There are currently three containers with stink bugs inside around my house. One is in K2's room. One is on the end table beside the couch, and one is on the kitchen table.
3. We have discovered that the dog likes to eat stink bugs. It's good for the invasion, but not so good for doggie kisses.
4. I broke my temporary crown over the weekend. It doesn't hurt, but it's sharp.
5. B has decided that it's time to get a kitten.
6. K3's flu turned into an ear infection.
7. Both K3 and I have been waking up at 3:33 am lately. I think about zombies when I wake up. I'm afraid to ask him what he thinks about.
8. We had a total invasion of stink bugs Sunday night. They were flying all over the house. We must have caught and/or kissed close to a hundred of the creepy-assed bastards - some were flushed, some were jarred, and others were sucked into the void in the vacuum.
Okay. I'm going to stop there. That list is looking pretty bizarre to me....

Placeholder Post...

..... I am mentally working on a brilliant post about choices, excuses, and drive, but right now I can't think beyond the pounding in my head, the soreness of my feet, or the fact that I just now sat down after one heck of a long day that included ear infections, long waits at the doctor's office, and ridiculously expensive medications.

Dear Supernatural People,

It's been a while! Welcome back. I didn't realize how much I'd missed you until about five minutes before the show started. That's when it finally hit me that the show was back and Sam could be back.
Oh! The hug! Sam is back! Whoot!
I understand why Dean didn't want to tell him what happened. I didn't like it, but I was glad things worked out the way they did. Bobby's coolness towards Sam is also understandable. I hope they have a heart-to-heart, or something, that helps Bobby forgive Sam for trying to kill him. I also don't think the wall or whatever Death put up is going to hold for long, though. And I want to believe Sam is strong enough to deal with what happened to him while locked in the box with Lucifer and Michael. Guess we'll see about that one.
White shirt! Very poetic with the "virginal" theme running throughout the show. And very lovely to look at. I couldn't really tell you what Sam and Dean were talking about during that scene. All I could see was the white shirt!
Loved the dragon storyline. Nicely done. I'd like to know more about the dragon mythology, but that's just me. And maybe we'll find out more in the next few episodes. Loved the "big bad" and can't wait to see what happens next. Way to put a fresh spin on things.
Thank you for giving me my love back, Supernatural People. I'd feared my passion had waned during the beginning of this season, but I hoped you'd bring things around and that the disjointed, off feel of the show was intentional. I believe it very well could have been. I guess time will tell with that one.
But...I'm so glad my Friday's are now complete again.
Until next week...
