Tall Tale Tuesday - Or Not...

I'd do a Tall Tale Tuesday, but life is so bizarre right now....
Here's what has really happened around here in the past week. (and no, I'm not lying)
1. The gas company found it necessary to dig in front of our house (with jackhammers) until 1am Saturday morning. (So what there was a stupid gas leak...it was annoying)
2. They also posted my street as a "No Parking" zone and they haven't been back. (Guess who parked there tonight, even though the signs have been up since Friday and say 6am until 4pm??? If you can't come back to finish the job, then I can't read your signs! And guess what else? I don't leave until well after 6am!)
3. Not long after the gas company finally left Saturday morning, some moron decided it would be a good idea to set off mortar fireworks behind our house and in a few other locations around our town. The cops are looking for them, and we're lucky our house didn't catch fire! Morons...though I slept through it...
4. Stomach flu and head cold. K4 and yours truly.
5. Potentially awesome weekend plans. If I can make it work. And I really really hope I can (but am not holding my breath)!! (and did I mention the head cold thing?)
6. I'm pissed because of the lack of snow.
7. And... (probably the most amazing thing of all. I don't care if you don't believe me, it's true!) It's Tuesday and I have not had to stop at the store or cook anything yet. The kids made the menu, we all did the shopping, and it's good! K3 made dinner tonight and it was absolutely awesome!
That is all for now!!

Tall Tale Tuesday...Not

No Tall Tale Tuesday this week as I am out and about and quite possibly doing something fun that I will tell you about later.
I will leave you with this:
..... I have no idea. Maybe it's how tired I was when I set this blog to post today. Maybe I won't even think it's funny the next time I look at it!

Tall Tale Tuesday Fail

Sorry about the air silence...Long story.
Anyway. I had some fantastic things in line for Tall Tale Tuesday today, but they've left me. That will teach me for not writing them down. Though if I remember, I'll be back later to post them.
***
Knee surgery for the husband today. We'll be heading out here in a little while for his surgery in the surgery center that kind of reminds me of a fast food joint. Don't get me wrong, they do a great job there and everyone is very nice and professional, but it's almost like a conveyor belt. I'm looking forward to him being out of pain. I'm sure he is too. I think I'm actually going to do some reading while I wait. I have some good books on my TBR pile - Megan Hart, Misty Simon, Vicky Burkholder...which one to choose....
***
The younger K's both want e-readers. K3's been doing research on them and pricing out the books he wants. I had to tell them that neither of them get one before me. I've wanted one for way longer. But it's exciting to me that they want one. Very exciting.
***
We're heading into major busy time around here. Also, major retreat planning time! I've very excited about that. Less than a month to go!
***
I'm still maintaining in the 50/50 challenge. I have hit at least the minimum every single day since we started. I'm hoping to do some major damage today in between the surgery and prescription runs.
***
That's all for now!

Tall Tale Tuesday...

...Or not...

I don't really have much this week...

Go over to Natalie's blog for the third installment of the hero showdown! It's Nathan Fillion against himself as Castle and Malcolm Reynolds and boy, was that a hard choice! She also has Samwise Gamgee against Harry Potter! The horrors!

Also, scroll a little bit and find the buy links for Natalie's new book Fight or Flight. It came out yesterday, and believe me when I tell you it's worth the read! And do the same at Misty Simon's Blog. She's sitting on a brand new release as well. I haven't read Strings Attached yet, but I'll be getting my copy this weekend.

What else?
Not much. The yard is muddy. The gnomes are grumbling about booze and nudie mags. The stink bugs haven't been too bad (knock on wood).

That's all I have!

Smell That?

No, I'm not talking about stink bugs, though I did fish a dead one out of the washing machine earlier. I'm also not talking about stinky teenaged feet, or the dog that desperately needs a bath.
It's a new month, baby!
I don't know why I'm excited about it. Though maybe excited isn't the right word. I dunno. All day I kept saying...March 1st, wow. I do like March. Except for the mud, and the unpredictable weather, and the muddy paw prints and fur all over my house (and by this I mean that the dog lays in the mud and then comes inside and gets mud on the walls, the couches, me...ugh). I like a lot of things about March, but I could probably say that about every month. I guess March means that this whole 2011 thing is real. We've lived through two months of it, and it's not going away. Ha!
Anyway. Tall Tale Tuesday is a fail today. I don't have much to Tall Tale about. Either that, or my brain just isn't working. (I'd bet on the second, especially since it's after 9pm and I'm just now getting stuff done.)
So...that's it. Happy March! And...

Behind...

So...no Tall Tale Tuesday, because it's late and I got nothing. Well, I might have something, but my brain isn't coherent enough to pull it together.
I also didn't post about Supernatural. And that makes me sad. The deep and philosophical post is also still in the works, though I have on idea when.
I hate breaking a blog streak and missing days.
And when I say I'm far behind, I mean it. I haven't been blog visiting for a while. I suck at keeping up with my own blog. I can't tell you the last time I Tweeted, or checked in on Facebook. I also haven't done more laundry than absolutely necessary and that includes putting away the massive pile of clothes in my bedroom (and we're not going to talk about that travesty - the room I sleep. Oy!) My floors need scrubbed. The bathroom needs a major cleaning. My 'burban could double as a dumpster. The fridge is bare, and so is the pantry. The pile of papers on my dining room table is almost high enough to block out the sun.
But...
I am writing, though thanks to the migraine I've had for a week, it's not as much as it should be. But progress is progress. And most of the taxes are pretty much done (let's not talk about the college tax stuff, or the college financials I still have to do). And I will most likely get to see K5 at the end of this week. (She's crawling! And pulling herself up!)
And that's about it for this...Tuesday? Is it Tuesday?

Tall Tale Tuesday Fail!

No Tall Tale this week!
Maybe because I'm lame. Maybe because I have nothing. Maybe because I've spent my day running around like a freak...not cleaning for Thursday...not cooking for Thursday...(okay, so it's a little too early to cook, but you get the point) I did spent most of my day volunteering at the middle school for County Chorus day. That was pretty awesome. A long day for K3 - at school before 8 and not home until nearly 9 - singing all day. He's exhausted, but wound up after a fantastic show.
But tomorrow is sleeping in for a little, cleaning, and then cooking. Sleeping in! How awesome is that? And minions to do my bidding! I have a plan and a list and my list isn't terrible, but there are some crappy things on there (like cleaning the crapper and cleaning the cat's crapper). Oh and I have to write at least 50 words to stay in my writing group challenge, so that's on the list, too.
And I will be ready for Thursday.
I swear!

Dear Supernatural People,

I'd hoped to watch Friday's/Saturday's episode again before writing this post, but, sadly, it's not online yet. I missed small portions thanks to people talking and a glitch in the broadcast, so I'll do my best here.
First off, I'm sorry I judged you so harshly after the season premier. My faith in you is restored, though, you must know I'm not completely convinced this season is going to hit me in the same spots as previous seasons. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and am definitely along for the ride.
Sam was better this week, though still not himself, and that makes me even more confused/concerned over his smug reaction to Dean. Something's up with him and I hope it doesn't take too many episodes to find out what it is. I do like his new take charge attitude. I've always loved Bad!Sam, but Season6 Sam, while mostly perfect, is wrong. I liked when he pointed out how Dean was acting like their dad and how flustered he was with the baby.
Dean! Oh, Dean. So sad and conflicted and worried. Hella sexy with the baby, even when we wasn't quite sure what to do. I love Lisa and I hope nothing bad happens to her to keep Dean angry and on the road, even though he needs to be on the road. I want him to always have a safe place to go back to. I want he and Lisa to break the rules and make it work like she said.
Grandpa and the rest of the family...(though Harold from The Stand! Whoot!)...well, there's something wrong there. The lack of emotion to whichever one of them got killed, the lack of softness towards the baby - shifter or not. I can't wait to find out who Grandpa was talking to and exactly who pulled him back from the dead. I like the idea of the alpha monsters, but can't take too many more episodes without some kind of conclusion and emotional healing. I'm just sayin'.
So...I wait patiently and hopefully for this week's episode...The preview looks awesome, especially the part with shirtless Sam doing pull ups!

(No Tall Tale Tuesday this week. I should have saved the stinkbug ordeal, but oh well...)

Tall Tale Tuesday on Wednesday

Oops. Missed posting yesterday. That's what happens when you babysit your 3 month old granddaughter and get a house guest in the same day. Writing? Ha. I tried, but only managed a few sentences. Getting anything else I'd planned and said I was going to do done? Ha. Not even close. Oh, and did I mention I made a huge dinner? Should have thought that one out a little better. I might have ended up partially sane at the end of the night.
But, we're going to do Tall Tale Tuesday anyway.
In honor of Stink Bugs...
Tell me which one is true:
1. K3 opened the umbrella that had been stored on the backporch and there were over a hundred stink bugs throughout. It was gross.
2. While simmering the lasagna sauce yesterday I had an errant thought about a stink bug landing in the pot. Guess what I fished out while putting it all together? It didn't smell and the sauce didn't taste weird, but could you imagine crunching down on that? *shudders*
3. The cat finally stopped watching them and went into active hunt mode. He doesn't eat them. Just kills them and then rolls in them. He stinks. And he wonders why I won't let him lay on my bed.
So, two are lies. Which ones?

Oops!

Can you believe I just now remembered it's Wednesday? Totally missed Tall Tale Tuesday this week. I'll pick it back up next week. Maybe I'll have some good ones after this week.
Raining here. Kind of nice. The temps are lower, which is also nice. Lots of stuff going on. B's doing well after his knee surgery. Lots of ice and grumbling because he's down for the count.
Bedrooms are getting cleaned. Things are getting prepared for the big graduation party this weekend. Tomorrow will be busy, for sure.
That's it for today. Exhaustion has settled in.

Tall Tale Tuesday - Fail

No Tall Tale Tuesday this week. Too much going on and not a clue where the camera with potential pictures has gone. It will come back, just not this week.
So, the very terrible, completely awful first draft is finished. Joy. I'm apathetic about it right now - maybe because I know how much work it needs. I'm still completely in love with the concept, so I guess that's at least something.
I gotta tell you my rough spot hasn't gotten any easier. I was just at the point where I thought I'd begun the crawl back out of the hole when something else happened - like a boot heel to my forehead that propelled me back into the abyss. Yeah, It's been like that lately. Sure I could make the choice to stop trying, but...not.
Anyway.
How about a little good?
The retreat t-shirts are as awesome as I thought they'd be. The first draft is done in a decent time frame, considering. K4's orchestra concert was fantastic. My house is in semi-decent shape. (not really, but it's my lie, let me live it! ha!) The retreat is two weeks away. And I'm taking a nap today.
So there you have it.

Tall Tale Tuesday - Fail

So, a month or so ago, Wednesday was the new Monday.
Today, Tuesday is.
A long day. Very. Meetings, errands, appointments, grocery store. Ack!
I haven't had my shoes off for very long. My feet hurt. A lot.
I need new sneakers in a big way.
I did manage to write - longhand - while doing various other things that had to be done. But I still did some significant work. Not quite done yet, but soon. Every single time I think I'm close, I go off in another direction and start adding necessary scenes. But I'll get there.
Tomorrow is very similar to today. It scares me. So, then Wednesday is Monday, too.
I don't even know.
So, that's just a long way to tell you that there's no Tall Tale Tuesday this week.
