It Has Begun...Again

It's been several years since this flamingo has been around. I think it needed a vacation after its last appearance at the beach.
Imagine my surprise when I went out to start the 'burban and see this wired to my wiper blade - hanging out there so anyone driving by could see and wonder why the heck its there. I died laughing (which probably also made people wonder).
I texted my sister and brother-in-law telling them that I think we have a situation. My sister knew but isn't the one who wired it there. My brother-in-law, however, agreed that we are in the middle of a situation. Ha!
The last time this bird was out we were at the beach. It showed up everywhere - beds, the washing machine, showers, hot tub, pool, in cars, in the elevator. We never knew where it would appear, but it always did.
Now that it's back and in my possession, it's up to me to figure out where it should go next. I'm thinking really hard about that and will let you know what I come up with.

I Know...

I totally cheated on Feel Good Friday...
There's been a lot going on around here. Most of it I'm not inclined to post about at this time, but suffice it to say there was a situation That Man and I had to help with. It was hard and weird (not because of who was involved, but other people who shall not be named) and we did the best we could, and I am so thankful it worked out.
After having unexpected guests for over two weeks, we're back to just the four of us. It's a little weird.
Tonight all of the kids were here for dinner. K1, J, and Baby B, K2 & J (weird that both of my older kids have spouses whose names begin with J?), K3, & K4 (obviously because they still live here). It was pretty impromptu and the first time we'd been able to get together with the newlyweds since the wedding in a relaxed setting. (As relaxed as it gets in this house) We had a nice dinner, laughed, talked, and hung out. It was good.
So anyway...
Our weekend after Friday included a baby shower / cookout where I only knew three people. Kind of awkward, but I managed well. That Man always manages because he's not as introverted as I am. (Cookout and baby shower were for the same people, but in two different locations). We came home to a clean house (I know, right?), and silly kids. That Man crashed early, so the kids and I watched the new Evil Dead movie.
It was okay. I did like it, but I had so many questions that weren't answered. I wanted to know why and how and what happened.
Went to bed too late and didn't sleep in as long as I'd wanted.
Sunday was a gathering for my dad's birthday. It was very good. My parent's patio and back yard is gorgeous. They worked hard on it all summer to get it ready for wedding company. After that, we dropped That Man off at home and I took the kids shopping for school clothes. (We're a little late, but they had what they needed to start.) Spent way too much money, but they got a lot of what they needed and are very happy. Finally got home to a very good dinner That Man made and writing time.
And that's where the weekend ended...
Today is Monday. None of us were ready for it. But now, Monday is nearly over.
That is all for now...

What a Day...

Here's a list of things I will not do tomorrow:
1. Sleep in. :(
2. Wear "real" shoes. (flip flops only - until the boss tells me to stop it)
3. Revise, edit, or write. Which, this time, is good because it means my manuscript has gone to one of my trusty critique partners for a final read through. Yippee!
4. Put my hair up. Because I still don't have hair. It's getting longer, but I will probably cut it one more time before I let it grow again. It's ridiculous looking at the moment and the man won't give me the temporary mohawk I want! I'm still working on him.
5. Did I mention not sleeping in? Dang it!
6. Kick a toad.
7. Lick chickens.
8. Be home or in bed at a decent time.
9. Be able to finish the Firefly marathon I started tonight. (I am working on getting K4 hooked! And it's working!)
10. Buy a horse.
Well...There's your random list for Wednesday...

The Stuff That Goes On Here...

The Egg Audience...

On Saturday, the man and I went grocery shopping. We were being silly and stupid and our goofing off caused us to leave a box of eighteen eggs in the backseat of his car.
Not very bright.
When we went to parent-teacher conferences for the youngest kid, she discovered the eggs.
We brought them in to dispose of them after discussing how handy a whole box of rotting eggs would be when you had a case of road rage (not me. I am not an angry driver. Ever)

A Happy Chap
We sat them on the counter as we shucked our jackets and stowed our keys.
K2 opened the box and disappeared to find markers....
Every egg has a different face...

Death by Pliers...
This poor guy didn't make it. Someone tried to pick him up with a pair of pliers.

It is any wonder that I teeter on the edge of insanity?

Tall Tale Tuesday...Not

No Tall Tale Tuesday this week as I am out and about and quite possibly doing something fun that I will tell you about later.
I will leave you with this:
..... I have no idea. Maybe it's how tired I was when I set this blog to post today. Maybe I won't even think it's funny the next time I look at it!

What Was Good About Today...

Similar to Feel Good Friday, but not...Because it's Saturday and B was off work, which is unusual...
1. Hedges getting trimmed.
2. Two of the four chickens going to their new home with my sister who is so happy to have them.
3. Getting to hold my brand new great niece.
4. Hanging out with my brother and sisters at the 'rents house. We all had to leave far too early, but it was a very good time, with good food and a lot of laughter - like usual.
5. Grocery shopping = done.
6. Bills = paid.
7. Saving $35.00 on gas.
8. K3 getting to hang out with his best friend.
9. K4 being registered for summer camp. She is so excited!
10. Sleeping in until 9 am. Sweet.
And one more...
11. The cooler temps! It's gorgeous outside!
Oh, and here's my only complaint...
I really, really, really wish I could go to RWA National!! It starts next week and I am dying! I'd planned to go this year, but it couldn't happen...I am super bummed!!
That is all...

Tuesday...But No Tall Tales...

So...I mentioned the dog's haircut fiasco...
This is the after - the way after. (since I promised her no pictures with the reverse mohawk.)
See that to the left? That's the rest of her fur. (and that pile is bigger than it looks in the pic) We spent more hours tonight - trimming and trimming. I don't know if you can see it or not, but there's still a little hair on her tail. (It won't be staying).
That's a lot of fur! And that's probably only half of what we took off. (I got at least that much when I started this whole process) It's a whole 'nother dog.
It's Tuesday already. Thank goodness for that. The weekend is coming!
