So... the cold thing has hit me...
I'm trying so hard to soldier through. Taking meds (forgive me for typing errors). Using a ton of tissues. Wishing I could sleep for sixteen years. I'm showing up for my job and doing my best. (I'm not sure the folks I'm working with feel the same. I'm training in retail for the next few weeks, so I'm bugging the guys in the store and trying to learn how to do all of that stuff...)
I'm tired...
I'm trying so hard to do everything I have to do. My feet are killing me. I purchased new shoes tonight. New shoes that cost more than I wanted to spend, but they feel so nice on my oh-so-sore-feet! I hope I feel the same way tomorrow.
I need to go to bed...
But... I still love my new job...

Tuesday Randomness...
The people in my house are weird!
There has been traffic snafus, random dancing, hair straightening and then curling, wedding letter writing, awkward conversations, hamster cage cleaning, dentist appointments, cereal for dinner (for me. I don't know what anyone else ate), chores done way after dark (with attitude), an email that keeps popping up in my inbox even though I've deleted it sixty-five million times, spam messages that make me want to hit "reply" (I won't, but still...), funeral & calendar conversations, dead laptop batteries, summer camp forms, emails from friends we haven't seen in way too long (and plans to get together. Yay!), more awkward conversations, body part conversations (is it strange that this has its own category?), discussions of upcoming events and how not ready we are...
And all of that was just tonight.
That is all...

Of Floods and Other Things...
You'd have to be living under a rock if you didn't hear about the flooding in PA this week.
We stayed dry - especially in our basement - thanks to the ingenuity of that man I live with. I certainly had no idea that one simple awkward drainpipe move would halt the flood of water into our basement. He's clever, that man. (though I am totally jealous that he got a day and a half off work thanks to the swollen and angry river.)
The pictures of the flood are incredible and the river hasn't even crested yet.
It's not raining anymore.
The humidity is insane though. Everything feels sticky and gross.
***
I made a quick stop at a local convenience store on my way home. The clerk was on her cell phone, speaking in a foreign language. She proceeded to stand in front of me - talking - while I was waiting for her attention. Really? I'm a paying customer. You can't get off the phone long enough to ring me up?
***
Water restriction sucks! I need to do laundry. And dishes. Not to mention, I'm really sick of cautiously flushing the toilet. Supposed to end tomorrow. Thank goodness.
***
I hate it when people call me "Hon".
***
That is all.
Feel Good Friday is next.

Stink Bug Surge
In preparing for the holiday, I spent some time helping K4 clean her hideously disgusting bedroom so she and her cousin have a place to escape the crowd and hang out. Maybe not a good use of the little bit of availablecleaning time I have, but necessary. Two bags of clothes for charity, a big garbage bag of trash, and many many stink bugs. It really wasn't that bad, but her room is small so it looked worse than it was. I have learned not to freak out about the dozens of qtips, tons of paper, and other things that are really garbage. It seems to be the way it is, especially with my girls. Junior hoarders...or something. I don't know, but it is a passing phase.
But the stink bugs...
Her window covering had fallen and as I reached for the edge, it flipped...revealing probably thirty stink bugs. This is after finding at least ten of the little suckers just hanging out on the front. I was disgusted. I took the whole thing down and threw it in the yard. The stink bugs were everywhere. Everywhere. I'd move something and smell the stink. I guess we stirred them up, because the next thing we knew, they were on the walls. Disturbing and disgusting. B thinks they're coming in around the air conditioner that needs to come out. I duct taped the edges for now - until we can get it out, so they better not find another way in.
Anyway. It was gross and disturbing and horrible. Her room is very clean now and I am monumentally relieved the chore is done.
But she couldn't sleep last night. She said she felt like they were crawling on her. I don't blame her. That's all I could think about when I went to bed.

Stinkbug Violation
I'm traumatized...
Here's what happened:
Went to bed too late. Finally fell asleep and my phone rings. It's K2. She's at the intersection. Her truck stalled and won't restart. Only it takes me at least three minutes to get this information out of her due to her hysteria. Get her home and settled and go back to bed.
Where I dream of a surgeon selling body parts in this department store type building with an elevator and "arms on floor five" kind of deal. Not really scary, but very weird. Wake up as I roll over. Open my eyes and stare out the window. Feel something on my side. I think it's a wrinkle in my shirt, smooth it and then I feel a drop of liquid on my side. I'm not sweating. Reach to touch and feel a stinging sensation.
Oh yeah, you guessed it. There was a stink bug in my freaking shirt and not only did he spray his foulness on me, he BIT ME!
Ick and gross and ouch!
Ran to the bathroom and washed the foul odor from my body and looked at my side. There was an indentation of where I apparently laid on it for a while, and then the bite mark. Took me forever to fall back to sleep (after I killed it twice and then spent several minutes searching the bed with a flashlight and scouring the room for any more of the little jerks!) and when I did I had even weirder dreams.
Yes, I am traumatized. I'm not sure which is worse - the time I think I may have swallowed one, or this, because HE BIT ME!!! I still have a welt!
*shudders*
And that is all for now.
