Road Trip!

It's been a long time since Jason Manns played somewhere we could get to in a reasonable time by car. And yeah, New York is a haul, but it's still doable.
But! Jason Manns!!
As soon as we heard, we made plans. Then, I wasn't sure I could go. But it all worked out. Yay! Megan, Natalie, Misty, and I piled into Megan's car and hit the road, making it to New York, finding a parking place, and getting to the venue in time to catch the first two performers before Jason Manns.
He was amazing, as usual. The trip was worth not getting home until 5am and only getting a few hours of sleep before I had to drag my sorry butt into work.
The thing about road trips, especially this one, is that it's really more about the four of us being together. We've been friends for a long time, and life has prevented us from getting together as often as we like. Honestly, seeing Jason Manns was like a cherry on top of a big ice cream sundae with hot fudge, strawberry sauce, nuts, (lots of nuts), whipped cream, and all that other ice cream goodness. Okay, he's at least two cherries, but you get my point.
Now go search him on the interwebs, give him a listen, and buy his music.

Thursday?

I have no idea what day it is this week. This seems to be a frequent problem for me. And I can't believe I missed posting yesterday, but I do have a good excuse. The gnomes were threatening an uprising and all of my time was taken up with negotiations. Things are okay for now, but the situation is somewhat of a pressure cooker. I'm not sure how this will end.
***
Hopefully my sister in on the last leg of this spider bite journey. She had the plastic surgery to replace skin over the area yesterday. She's in an immobilizer for a little while, but is now without the tubes and wires she's been stuck with for the past several weeks.
***
My mother-in-law remains in the hospital. She is undergoing tests, but seems to be gaining strength. We really don't know too much at this point.
***
This week has seemed long! But tonight I get the chance to hang with the bff's and hear my favorite, Jason Manns. Very much looking forward to it!

It can stop being so danged hot now.

That is all!

About Last Night...

After waiting alllll day, we finally hit the road. A quick stop at the convenience store for supplies and we were off. We completed the first leg of our journey and met up with the rest of our party. Amazingly, we didn't stop for potty breaks on our way into the big city and except for some traffic, our journey was easy. (Have you met my friend Pimplehead?) Arrived at the same parking garage we used last time, paid the fee, and made our dinner reservations. Dinner was good, even if our waiter was a little grumpy and didn't appreciate us in the least. Hung out, laughing and talking until shortly before we were allowed upstairs into the venue.
Finally get upstairs at the same table we had last time (yay for early reservations) and listened to the guy who opened for Jason Manns. He was a fantastic storyteller and his lyrics were pretty cool. I boned on getting his CD, so I'm hoping to find him on iTunes.
Jason Manns was fantastic as usual. And! A new CD! (If you've never listened to him, look him up!)We hung out in the venue waiting for the line to diminish, swing dancing and laughing. Misty had her prom picture taken with Jason Manns and we spent a lot of time laughing and joking with his friend who was taking care of CD sales.
It was interesting being in the city on a spring Friday night. There were people and parties everywhere. And a guy playing the trumpet on the street corner. He was fantastic and we all dropped some change into his hat. And let's not forget the crying drunk girl who had no idea where she'd left her car and told Misty all about her terrible night. I'm glad she didn't know where her car was and I hope she didn't find it until she sobered up. There was a party going on in the parking lot, but it was one of those party's that made us hustle quickly into the car and get out of there. We did a little sightseeing on our way to our route, more like, cruising the same couple of blocks looking for our road. (Did you know the Liberty Bell is in Philadelphia?)
The drive home was long. We managed to maintain conversation for 99.99% of the time and did have to make one rest stop, but that's no wonder considering how many sodas we had. Dropped off two of our party, and the rest of the trip seemed to drag on forever. It was nearly 3:30 when I unlocked my door, forgetting my b-i-l was sleeping on the couch and making way more noise than I should have. And then, of course, I couldn't sleep. Too much caffiene. And then I woke way earlier than I thought I would.
It was worth it though. We had a blast!
Hopefully there will be pictures later.

Feel Good Friday

What a long, long week. I think I say that every week, but let me tell you...I mean it this week!!
Here are the good highlights:
1. New Supernatural.
2. Getting the obligations finished.
3. My lack of cooking. I love to cook, but it's sometimes nice when I don't have to.
4. My house staying semi-clean despite my family. ha!
5. Coffee.
6. The days of warm sunshine. (Please come back!)
7. Lots of laughter.
8. Friday!
9. The flowers my husband brought me - even though it's too cold to plant them. They're currently residing in the bathroom with the door closed to keep the cat from eating them and barfing all over the floor.
...and...the thing I've been waiting for all week:
10. JASON MANNS tonight!

Time?

....I post this picture because of the absolute love of Dr. Who that goes on in my house. (Are you sensing that my children have eclectic tastes?) They're patiently waiting for the new season to start with the new doctor. (Plus, David Tenant's a cutie.)
Anyway.
This was supposed to be about time.
There is never enough of it. Never. It's always been like that, it will always be like that. There's nothing we can do to change the universe to give us more, and even if we did, nothing would be different. There would not be enough even if you were a Time Lord. Stuff would fill it, and then there would be none. We have to do the best with what we have. Organize. Plan. And even that sometimes won't help you get everything done. My lists certainly don't help and they don't take into account the cash registers going out just as I get to the register with my groceries (yes, it happened again), or the cat puking, or the washer being off-balance and not wanting to spin the clothes no matter how many times you rearrange them and restart the cycle...ahem...
This morning I joined some friends for a brief writing challenge-type-thingy. We met in the chat room and worked for half hour spans, then reported our progress, chatted for a few minutes, and began again. It was a productive hour and fifteen minutes for all of us - well, except for the one who bailed halfway through, but that's beside the point. I finished my hard copy edits, and now have a few hours to begin inputting the changes into my computer. I don't believe I would be this far if it wasn't for the little challenge.
I keep saying it and I will continue. Get some writing friends and challenge each other. You won't be sorry. In fact, you might just be surprised at what else you get out of it.
Don't let time get you down. Make the most of what you have. Try your best. Give yourself a break when things spin out of control and make sure you use some of it to goof off a little. Oh, and listen to some Jason Manns while you're at it. You won't be sorry.
I think that's enough confusion for one day, don't you?
Oh, and don't forget to tune into Supernatural tonight!

Roadtrip!

(No Tall Tale Tuesday today.)
Last night I went with my bff's to see Jason Manns!
I know. Again? Whoot!!
Go to Megan's blog for a funny video with a clip of me stuck in my seatbelt. Her post is beautiful and made me all sniffly. The only thing I can add is: Ditto!
And...Do you still have the pictures of us in the chicken hats?
Another recap from Natalie can be found here. I won't link to Misty's blog since she hasn't updated in something like 3 months and it's very unlikely that she will, but if you want to check out her previous posts check the sidebar. I'm sure if she did update, she'd mention how she got accosted for change before the rest of us even got out of the car, and how she was approached a second time on our way to the venue. Oh, and she might tell you about "pink shirt", too.
I don't have much to add to what they said. We laughed so much. By the time I got home my voice was raspy and my throat was raw. Dinner was fun and by eating at the restaurant downstairs, we were guaranteed reserved seating upstairs. Right in front of the stage. The venue was small and nearly packed, and I have to say, Jason's a class act. He handled the comments and interruptions pleasantly. I cringed at a few things that happened, but he never seemed bothered.
It was a very, very good night!
