Last Post of the Year...

Happy New Year!

I typically do a "wrap up" of the year, but there doesn't seem to be much of a point. The year was mostly focused on surgery and recovery with a few other things thrown in for good measure. Or bad measure...idk which...

The best things about the year were getting rid of my pain, grandkids, and husband stuff.

The whole thing seemed to pass in a flash.

Am I looking forward to the new year? I mean, no. I don't see how it's going to be "better" or "new". It's all the same.

Yeah, there are things to look forward to, but on the daily it's the same grind. I don't think that's cynicism...just reality. Yeah, I hope 2026 is better than 2025 and I'll do everything I can to make it so, but that's all any of us can do.

Anyway.

Don't drink and drive tonight (or at any time). Have fun with your friends and family and remember to drink water in between your cocktails.

We're staying in. We've never been huge fans of NYE. We'll get some snacks and watch some dumb tv and go to bed at our normal time. Works for me.

Tall Tale Tuesday-ish...

Today has, so far, been one for the books...

1. Woke up to a wet foot. The pup leaked urine. In our bed. It was pretty bad. It happens sometimes. She's 12. We stripped the bed, cleaned her up, and started the washing machine before we left this morning.

2. After fixing the dryer, the washing machine decided to only work when it wants to. K4 restarted the washer four times this morning. (She offered to make sure our mattress pad got dried)

3. Get into the day job and our whole system is down. We have shop lights out and the light on the server is dead. Put in an emergency call to our IT guys and then have nothing to do until he gets there to fix it. (System is back up and nothing is wrong, so a good thing)

4. Just as I was leaving for the post office, fire trucks fill the street in front of the office. There's a house fire across the street. We see the family that lives in the end unit out there freezing so we invite them into the office to get warm. They are shook up and worried about their pets. Bottom line is that everyone is fine. It wasn't their unit that caught fire and their pets are okay.

5. The sickness is going around like crazy! We're trying to stay away from it, but I fear it's only a matter of time.

And that's all...

Post Merriment!

I hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas!

Around here it was wonderful chaos -- from beans frozen into a beanie baby for a dirty santa gift, to Star Wars, musicals, food, birthday chaos, and laughter. It was a really good couple of days.

Friday morning brought lounging and decompression. Mr. B had asked to spent the weekend here and of course we said yes. Pretty much all we did was watch movies and chill.

Back to the grind tomorrow. Well, for 2 1/2 days. Then we're off until next Monday.

I had an idea for what I am writing next last night. Right now, it's all brain juice, but it's growing. I've cleaned up my files and drives in prep for new writing. I might not make it until the new year to start new writing, depending. But having that thought and feeling it grow is an amazing feeling.

And that's all I have for now...

Down to the Wire!

Yeah, I suck about getting on here lately.

Things have been busy as I'm sure you are super busy as well. We're getting there. I think the shopping is done even though I'm waiting for a few things to arrive. The cleaning is underway too.

I'm looking forward to the whole thing. Even the chaos. It'll be awesome to see my family Christmas Eve. Christmas day should be pretty chill. We'll do our thing in the morning and then go to see the grandboys. When we get back home, it'll be birthday time.

Food prep is already underway. There was too much in my fridge and too much to do, so I cooked chicken, prepped chicken, and cooked off the sausage. There's still too much in my fridge, but it's better organized now. I can't find my bundt pan, which I need for the birthday cake, but I'll figure that out.

We spend almost all day Saturday shopping after B's soccer game. Stores were insane and it was worse because we had no idea what we were after. We did figure it out and topped the day off with an excellent dinner for our anniversary.

I'm taking a writing break right now. I had myself all tied up in knots and couldn't figure out what I was doing, what I wanted to do, or what direction I should go. Had an epiphany and realized I was pushing myself into a box I don't want to be in, so I backed off and am giving my brain a rest until the new year. I have no idea what I will work on yet, but I have a little while to figure it out.

That's all I have.

Falling Off the Face of the Earth...

Well, I didn't really. But I think you get the drift.

It's a crazy time of year with tons going on and not a lot of down time.

I can't make any promises on posting. Just that I'll do my best.

And it's cold and I hate that.

13 days until Christmas and I'm maybe 2/3 ready. Maybe. But I'll get there.

That's all I have for right now. I'll try to do a better post soon!
