Tuesday is Better...

Than Monday.
And here's why:
1. We have hot water again! Whoo! (They wanted to charge me $20. to guarantee the part would be here today. I refused, and guess what? The part was here today... hmmm)
2. I voted. I hope you did to. (That's as political as I get. Voting is your right and privilege!)
3. The funky karaoke going on in my house when I got home.
4. Taking a walk with That Man.
5. Hot water.
That's enough for Tuesday. I'm wiped out and still need to write.

Friday Already?

Honestly, I don't know what's happened to this week. I really don't.
And I don't know where to begin, so I'll just back up to yesterday.
Three of us traveled to the national writing conference to attend the annual general meeting of our governing group. I'm not going to go into that except to say it was an interesting learning experience and nice to finally put faces to names. I learned a lot and was glad I went.
I have complete and total conference envy. Though, since it's been so long since I've been to a conference yesterday was probably all I could handle. I still have a headache. And my feet hurt. The shoes I wore...well, I'd forgotten that I usually wear them to weddings and the reason I think they're so comfortable is because I take them off as soon as possible and it's not like I'm walking up and down hills or stairs in them. My calves don't feel as bad as I expected though.
(Now, let me back up enough to say that I absolutely hate conference crashing. That's not what we did. We went to the meeting, but we did not insinuate ourselves into any event or resource available. And we avoided areas assigned to conference attendees.)
My last conference was probably five years ago, so I don't have a lot of conference friends like my associates. I did recognize and talk to a few people I remember, but there was no one waiting for me. Not to mention, I'm a little more confident than I was way back then, so I'm sure my conference experience in the future will be much different. Meeting up with my compadre's friends was a lot of fun, most of them I'd only interacted with on blogs or email loops - now I have faces and new friends.
Lunch in the hotel was okay, if not way expensive. Everything was expensive there - three bucks for a bottle of soda. Dinner at a Thai restaurant was awesome. People watching was also pretty cool. The private wine party was a lot of fun - it's amazing how many people can fit into a small hotel room.
All I can say is...I absolutely wish I was there. I probably won't be able to go for two more years. The energy and friendliness is something I'd forgotten.
We didn't get home until three o'clock this morning. It would have been earlier, but we got pulled over in Maryland. And our driver had to take a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer. I wish I would have taken pictures. (she had a half a glass of wine like 5 hours before we left) And, she ended up with a written warning - no ticket for speeding.
I have a few pictures I'll post at another time.
I'll do Feel Good Friday later on today when I get caught up. My girls come home tonight and I'm so excited to see them.

Random Thursday

Me and mine daddeh. Was going to post it for Father's Day. Here we are in the "classic family pose". There are hundred, nay probably thousands, of pictures of the members of my family in this particular pose. I told my dad I was posting it here. I don't think he believed me, and I'm not sure he's okay with it, but since you can only see beard, tongue, and sunglasses, I think it's still pretty hard to tell what he looks like.

So, here's my random Thursday list:

1. I'm trying to figure out what music best suits the tone of the book I'm working on. My playlists are completely worn out and I find myself listening to the same music over and over. No. I do not have an iPod, but it's on the wish list. Right now, I'm listening to Jason Manns and Jensen Ackles sing "Crazy Love". I love it with the intensity of a million fiery suns, but I need more music. Darker music.

2. I'm on target with my public goal posting so far. I've averaged 500 to 1000 words more than my goal, which will carry me if I end up with an off day. The flowers are planted. I'm a little concerned about the youngest child's bedroom, and the title for the new book though. We shall see.

3. The fourth of July is coming up super fast. Kind of shocked me when I realized it's next weekend already. Holy crap!

4. I will not step on slugs in my bare feet today.

5. I will remember to water said planted flowers today.

*Slight off topic tidbit for people who belong to the same parent writing organization that I do. Pay attention, people. Do your research. Learn what's going on and decide how you feel about it. Fill out your proxy vote and get it to someone who shares your views. Vote. Let your voice be heard. Change cannot happen if people don't voice their opinions. I'm not going to go into my opinions at this time, but I will once I feel I'm educated enough on the matter.*

Oh, and I feel another Summer Survival Journal coming on. Wait for it.

Do It

I don't care about your political views.
I don't care what you think about the candidates.
I don't care which party you registered under.
Just go vote!
It's your duty and your right.
And if you don't, then I don't want to hear you bitch about the way our country's being run. You have no right to do so if you don't exercise your freedom.
Make your voice heard.
Go Vote!
