My friend Ava passed this award on to me, which kinda cracks me up because besides battling stink bugs....
Anyway. Head over to her blog for some sarcasticly funny attitude. You won't be sorry.
And, apparently, I'm to pass this along to two blogs that make me smile.
So here we go:
Misty Simon (When she updates. ha!)
Natalie Damschroder
Check them both out!

Versatile...

The lovely Natalie Damschroder has passed this award to me. Thanks, Nat. I think. ha!
The requirements:
1. Thank the folks who gave you the award and and link to them;
2. Share 7 things about yourself;
3. Pass along to 15 bloggers (and link to them); and
4. Pay it forward: Comment on their blogs to tell them they are now recipients of the Versatile Blogger Award.
Okay. Already did 1. On to the 7 things.
Umm....Borrowing from Natalie on a few....
1. I have never flown in a jet that I remember (apparently I did once, when I was a baby). I have been in a homemade plane, but that is the extent of flight for me. It is not because I'm afraid. I just haven't had the opportunity.
2. Sometimes I have no brain. Like last night when I caught the grill brush on fire. Okay, not just on fire, but on fire enough to reduce the brush to a few bristles. I wasn't paying attention. And that is why I set the timer for dinner, especially if I'm writing and cooking.
3. I often hurt myself without any idea how it happened. I guess that kind of goes with 2, but whatever.
4. Though I still think I'm not ready to be a grandma, I am loving it. It's amazing how those little squirmy bundles of poop and tears can worm their way into your heart.
5. Eventually we will have a pool and a pool house. Why? Because I want it.
6. I love having a clean house, but don't really like cleaning that much. A cleaning service would be sweet.
7. (whew! last one! thank goodness!) B and I will be married 24 years this year and I can honestly say he's my very best friend. It doesn't seem like 24 years and I look forward to the next 24.
I'm supposed to tag people, but everyone's been tagged already so I won't.

Sunday Catch Up

My friend Sue passed this award onto me. It's The Sunshine Award. There have been a lot of awards passed around lately. But who can resist a little sunshine? Especially after a very rainy weekend. So, Thanks, Sue!
We haven't seen the sun around here for a long time. Maybe Thursday? I'm not sure. I can't remember. It poured all day yesterday with a side of insane wind. And, of course, B and K3 were at scout camp all weekend. I think it rains every single time they have a camp out. They had a blast despite the weather, and arrived home muddy, kinda wet and full from their annual "cooking camping".
Girl weekend was a blast. We ate out, watched movies, shopped, ate ice cream, watched more movies. There was a break in all the girl stuff when I had to wrestle with the furnace to get some heat in here. We were about to freeze to death. And, I did get some writing done as well.
I'm not sure what K4 considers her weekend highlights, but here are mine:
Forgetting we turned the clocks ahead last night and staying up until 2am (old time) to write. That made for oversleeping this morning and, of course, we were late.
Getting pulled over for going around a road closed barricade. Yeah, I know it was stupid, but I also had every intention of turning around if water was on the road. There was no water, but there was a cop sitting on the other side of the bridge. He gave me a proper dressing down, but no ticket.
Accidentally locking the cat in K3's room for a few hours. I discovered him at 1:30am and he then proceeded to punish me by yowling outside my door for nearly 45 minutes. I even got up to make sure he had food and water. He did, which convinces me he was out for revenge.
Oh, and this time change? I hate it. Just sayin'.

Lying?

Natalie passed this on to me. I think she knows I'm always up for an opportunity to lie a little. Thanks, Nat!
First I’ll post the rules:
1. Thank the person who gave this to you. (Did that!)
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog. (Did that, too!)
3. Link to the person who nominated you. (Yup)
4. Tell up to six outrageous lies about yourself, and at least one outrageous truth. (not a problem)
5. Nominate seven “Creative Writers” who might have fun coming up with outrageous lies. (Hmmm....don't know if there's anyone left to do this)
6. Post links to the seven blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know you nominated them.
Okay, first the lies/truths. Guess which are which.

Okay, first the lies/truths. Guess which are which.
1. One of my first jobs was a bingo caller at a small amusement park nearby. It is truly amazing how seriously some people take their bingo. They brought trolls dolls and all kinds of good luck stuff.
2. My husband proposed to me while we were installing a new wiring harness in his car. I had to be underneath because I'm smaller and when he passed me the connections to stick onto the transmission, the ring was dangling from them. Gotta love motorheads.
3. When I was in college, we were required to volunteer a certain amount of hours. I was late the day we had to sign up and got stuck being a clown for the children's hospital. The kids loved it, but I couldn't stand to look at myself in the mirror. Though I can make a pretty nifty balloon dog.
4. I was born with an extra kidney. They talked about removing it, but by the time I was old enough for the surgery, the kidney had dissolved.
5. When I was ten, I rewrote several Nancy Drew books because they weren't scary enough and because I didn't like how they ended.
6. One time, I wrote "hooker" as my occupation and "pimp" under my boss's job title on a form for student aid. I thought I was being funny. I'd filled out the form the right way, too, and used this one to make people laugh. Except...I mailed the wrong form. I was mortified when I realized what I'd done, but nothing was ever said.
So, which do you think is the truth?
Now for the passing along of this lovely chance to lie.

Circle of Friends Blog Award
We're skipping Tall Tale Tuesday because my friend Sue just passed me this nifty award. Thanks, Sue!!
There aren't any rules with this one. Except I get to pass it along!
So here goes:
Go visit them for a range of topics and frivolity. Tall Tale Tuesday will return next week. In the meantime, I will leave you with this: While on the way to the doctor for K3's nasty ingrown toenail, we were discussing possibilities for treatment. He commented on how much it hurts already and wondered how much more it would hurt after the visit. K4 sticks her head between the seats and says, "Don't worry. I'm sure they'll give you amnesia."
...so you won't remember that it hurts?
That is all...

Lovely Blog Award

The fantastic and hilarious Ava Quinn awarded me with the One Lovely Blog award. (I think the Sea Monkeys she keeps over there have affected her brain, because there's usually not a lot of lovely going on over here.) Anyway. Ha! I think it's way cool and I am honored.
Now it's my job to pass the award along. And I choose:
Author and friend Vicky Burkholder. She's always got some insight on books to read, writing, and other stuff, too.
Now...for the second part of the award. I'm supposed to tell you then things about myself that you might not otherwise know. Hmmm....
1. I'm the middle of five children. Two older brothers, two younger sisters.
2. As a kid, I lived 7 different places in 4 different states before we moved here.
3. My dad accepted his job in PA on the day the Three Mile Island disaster happened.
4. People say my youngest sister could pass for my twin (neither of us see that) - not so much face-to-face anymore (her hair is short and mine is long), but on the phone we can fool even our husbands.
5. B and I have been together since I was 15.
6. My favorite color is red. (red laptop. Whoot)
7. I can't sing. I like to sing, but it's dangerous to do so when anyone is within hearing distance.
8. I live with insane people. (I think you already knew that.)
9. I have only flown in a jet once and that was when I was a baby. I'm not afraid, I just have never had the opportunity. I have been in an ultralight and that was way cool.
10. I would love to live in the middle of 500 acres. In the woods.
So, that was more than you ever wanted to know. Nothing Tall Tale Tuesday about it either, all true. Oh, and speaking of Tall Tale Tuesday...I'm going to pass this week since I've got nothing but editing in my head right now (hence missing yesterday's blog post).
