I spent a long time on a sarcastic, but amusing, post that I wasn't sure I should actually post. When I went to publish it, things went haywire and I lost it. I guess that's a sign I should keep my sarcasm to myself...
So...today....
Sleeping in. Writing (still haven't reached the end, dangit!), errand running, grandbaby babysitting...
The grandbaby is a hoot. But man, I'm tired.
Long week ahead...

Tomorrow...
...I will give you the weekend lowdown!
Too tired right now, and I feel a little bit like the mamma opossum, but it a good way.

Weird Wednesday
So, they're calling for more snow, but can't decide how much. Yes, I braved the grocery store crowd, mainly because I have a busy day tomorrow and I was already out tonight. Plus, B's car's in the shop, so there's a chance he'll need to drive mine tomorrow. I even got gas, which required waiting in line for far too long. There was no store-brand bread. At all. But we're not going to talk about that right now.
We're also not going to talk about the immense garage bill that's accumulating as we speak. Mine needed stupid things like windshield wipers, some kind of rear seal, oh, and rear brakes. His needs some stupid wheel bearing that isn't the least bit dangerous if it disintegrates while he's driving it. Joy.
Nor are we going to talk about the icky toe, the fighting, the kid drama, or how bad my dog stinks.
So, what are we going to talk about?
Beats the heck out of me. I got nothing. It's been one of those long, long days. I've been home long enough to throw some laundry in, read my email, return a phone call, and take my shoes off... and I still have much to do before bed. Time is going too fast, but I'm still going to try to get a few more things done. We'll see. Weariness is settling over me as I type. Maybe it's better to start fresh in the morning?
That is all.

Superbowl?
I have to admit I didn't really watch it.
We went to a party - lots of food, kids, babies I'd yet to meet, friends I haven't seen in ages - all of that was very good stuff. I didn't even know who was playing until right before we left to come home and I glanced at the television maybe once during the entire time we were there.
So, school is delayed tomorrow, which is good in a lot of ways and not so good in others. The sleeping in part is good.
There's a lot of snow out there. And more in the forecast. I don't know what we'll do with more snow. We're running out of places to put it.
I managed a couple of hundred words earlier, but then got waylaid by K2's taxes and college forms. And my sick mother-in-law and a run for medicine for her. I'd planned to get back to it, but it never happened. That's pretty sad. Tomorrow will be better.
And that's all I've got.
The weekend went way too fast. I got a lot done, but not enough. But isn't that the way it always goes?

Where Have You Been?
Or...where have I been?
At camp.
I meant to post while I was away, but time got away from me.
We - or at least most of us - were at camp. Big surprise there.
Too much to 'splain, so I'll sum up.
Mice in my sister's camper. Again. Rain. Rain. Lots 'o rain. Mud. Lots of that, too. Big trees falling in the path (pictures of that later). Retrieving firewood from the woods from the last flood and almost getting stuck in the mud and losing my shoes. Laughing. Silliness. Campfires. Swimming. Stinky rugs. Rain. Tired dogs. Kids coming home from camp and then leaving again. Flooded tents. The potential for other kids to go to camp. Other kids going to camp soon. Ants. Friends. Little, little kids. Crayfish. Sparklers. Glow sticks. Hooking up and driving with the camper all by myself for the first time ever. Extra nights. Drama. Non-drama. Laughing.
Make sense?
I'm too tired to be coherent!
More later!

Monday's Thoughts...
It's Monday again.
And here's what I'm thinking:
1. Viking funerals.
2. Chinese food.
3. Chop sticks.
4. Pringles.
5. Band Aids.
6. Why ice from the store is different than ice from my freezer?
7. Bicycles.
8. Camping.
9. Alligators.
10. Fluffy pillows and clean sheets.
(#10 should give you a clue as to why this list is so random.)
Coherent?
Not.

Blogging Slacker
Not on purpose though.
The weekend was pretty busy.
I'll sum up...
Saturday: My monthly writing meeting. Always a blast. Good speaker, lots of laughing that continued through lunch. It's always uplifting to be with other people who are going through the same things you are.
Then, we drove almost an hour away to hear a band - actually two bands. It was a lot of fun to see everyone and hang out. The place was rather interesting, and so was the dancing. We were out late, but it was worth it.
Sunday: The usual Sunday stuff with the addition of broken toilets and light switches. Tons of laundry and fragmented running. And editing. Oh, and a nap.
I'm still dealing with a bursting 'to do' list and not enough time.
Tomorrow we're switching service providers. Keep you fingers crossed I can actually get on the Internet when it's over. I'm hopeful this is a better arrangement for us.
That's all.

Just So You Know...
I'm done!! The whole way done...revisions complete, synopsis written, query ready. Done!! I cannot tell you what a relief it is. We'll see what happens with my brain over the next few days. As of right now, I'm so far behind with everything else...time to catch up.

Whoot!
Edits are done!
I'm kind of stunned. And kind of worried that I've fried myself.
I've been working on this book for a long, long time. Finished it last summer. Let it sit for a few weeks. Started edits, realized over the last half of the book was pure crap. Cut it, rewrote. Finished again. Let it sit for about a month, then started edits again. Yeah, I've done other stuff as well, but the book has been in the back of my mind for what seems like forever.
To say this book has kicked my butt is an understatement. I still really like it. I know I'll have at least one more round of edits to do once I get it back from my last readers. That's okay. I'll be glad to get the comments back.
So...now I'm faced with what to write next. (this is where the fried part comes in). I'm not pushing my brain too hard, but my monthly goal was to write 10 pages on something new and I have a little over a week before the meeting. I have a few options already, but nothing's sticking yet. I'll be taking a short break while my cells heal and rejuvenate. And I'll be trying not to think to hard. Most of my ideas just pop in when I'm least expecting them.
Have to remember that.

Recharged
I love my local RWA chapter.
There is nothing like being with a bunch of like-minded people to put some charge back in your batteries. Our monthly meetings always do that for me, but after today's meeting I feel it more. I'm not even going to try to analyze why. I'm just going to go with the flow and try to keep the feeling all month.
I hope I do, because I made my monthly goal pretty high - not un-doably high, but it'll be a reach. I think. Which means I have to get to work. I have a full length novel to edit and my anthology story to edit. Maybe I'll put some progress bars up on here to give me some motivation.
That's all for today. I hope you're having an enjoyable weekend!

Happy New Year!
Well, well...the first post of the new year.
The year ended on a bang...literally...with B getting into a fender bender before he left work. The year began with a bang, too...literally, as well. A drunk driver hit our neighbor as he was pulling into park. The guy took off, ditching his car a block away and then taking off on foot. Exciting times in the 'hood.
So, I did what I said I wasn't and read over my January horoscope. Ha! I hate false hope and there were bucketloads of cheerful, positive predictions. Eh, whatever.
I am ready to for this new year though. Bring it.
That's all. For now.

Quickie
I think I forgot to mention that while we were looking forward to most things this past weekend, the general insanity and constant running were not something that floated my boat. Sunday was even busier than Saturday, which is why I missed posting.
Friday night K2 had a friend sleepover and they decided to watch scary movies all night. I stayed up with them for a little while, but when I went to bed, they asked me to turn on the kitchen light. Neither would give me a reason why they all of a sudden needed the light on. Ha!
Saturday's birthday party was a lot of fun and we got to see people we haven't seen in nearly 2 years. There were a lot of little ones there, and a lot of little one crying. B and I were transported back in time, then we were glad little one screaming is no longer a part of our daily life.
Sunday was constant chaos. We hustled to my brother's for my niece's 21st birthday party to see another family we haven't seen in a long time - not 2 years long - but considering we used to be together nearly every weekend, it's been a long time. Had to rush home from there for three different activities and didn't end up finishing the day until 9 pm.
And that's why I didn't post yesterday...
I'll be back later for Moaning Monday!
